We booked our honeymoon yesterday and I'm so excited. Has taken us ages to decide. Ended choosing Gozo (beside Malta). I think we got a good deal - 11 nights half board in superior sea view room in a 4 star hotel, flights and airport parking all for just over €1500 for the 2 of us. We didn't want to spend a fortune or fly too far but still wanted a little bit of luxury so this seemed like a good idea. We'll have a couple of days in Ireland after our Saturday wedding before flying out of the Tuesday so might have an extra night in the wedding hotel and a night in Belfast to be near the airport.

I also finally picked a wedding ring this weekend, after trying on what felt like hundreds of rings. A goldsmith in H2B's hometown is making it for me. She gave great advice and seems slightly cheaper than the ordinary jewelers. I like the idea of it being made locally by someone we know.

well done on getting those things sorted. i'm also thinking of going down the road of getting my ring made. any tips/idea's on how i will know when i'm happy with what they are going to make? i tried on a friend of mines wedding ring the other night and it was a fishbone ring. it was nearly the closest id seen to match my ring, but think i was told that most rings would match mine but they haven't.

Mollybird - I think most goldsmiths probably have samples to give you some idea of what your ring will look like. The one I went to looked at my E-ring, asked if I wanted plain or diamonds, told me what would suit and got me to try on a few. The sample for the one I liked was in a mix of yellow and white gold but I could imagine how it would look with just white. She will make it plain first to check it fits perfectly and then add the diamonds. She also made the point that if you get a ring with bits cut out to fit around E-ring you need to wear 2 together all the time, W-ring alone will look silly.

I think its a bit like dress shopping - try on loads and see what you like. I tried loads in other shops, really liked some but this was the first one I loved as much as my E-ring. good luck
