heh misses,
sorry wasn't sure where to put this topic. we are all here because we were proposed to.

would love to hear other stories of how it was done for other misses here. was it everything you expected? did he have the ring there and then or did ye go shopping for it later?

mine took a hell of a long time coming:) but boy was it worth the wait. h2b surprised me as best he could with a trip to NYC for 4 days. i actually knew it was going to happen pretty much when i saw which hotel he picked. not to mind that he told me i couldn't look at the hotel website. sure of course i looked didn't really care bout the hotel itself it was where it was looking out to. my fav landmark - the statue of liberty . arrived to find rose petals scattered along the entrance and a bottle of bubbly waiting for us and there was my statue in the distance - with a telescope in the room to get a better look.

the next night it happened. he went off to do his own thing after we saw the statue up close that morning. said a few days before he wanted to do his own thing. so i went off shopping. anyhow to cut a long story short he had booked us an evening cruise along the river with bout 50 people on it and just about made it with 5 min to spare. there waiting was more bubbly and some flowers. so at sunset with my statue in the background he went down on one knee with my ideal ring in his hand . what surprised me the most was that i always thought he would do it just the two of us. didnt' tell anyone till we got back home 3 days later. so here i am now planning my big day:)

Aw mollybird thats lovely he put alot of thought and effort in to make it special for you .

I was recovering from major surgery and was sick of being stuck in the house. He helped me into the car saying he was 'taking me for a drive for some fresh air'. He drove out to Bray seafront and the sun was beginning to set so the view was gorgeous. Next thing I saw was a big ferris wheel and he brought me over and got the guy working on the ride to help me into the carraige. When it stopped at the top he whsipered will you marry me in my ear! Such a special moment and I soon forgot about any pain I was in! Then I didnt mind being stuck at home cuz I had a wedding to plan lol!

We were all out doing a bit of shopping and having some lunch for my birthday , now I mean ALL , mam , dad, brother , sister, us and our son. He went into a jewellers in the shopping centre because he said he wanted to look at necklaces. He brought me over to the counter of engagement rings and said baby pick one , I was totally oblivious to what was happening and asked him what ? He then got down on one knee, and said "princess you are my life , will you marry me?" The whole shop was staring and my family and even people walking past in the centre. Naturally I said yes

Well, we went to Portugal last year. we were staying in the centre of town and every night we would walk down the hill into town.
One of the evenings, we were walking into town and h2b was like "oh lets see whats up here",while dragging me a different way. I was like " lets not, im starving, want to get something to eat!"
So he persuaded me to go up the hill pretending that he wanted to see what was up there.So we are walking along and the view was fab, looking right over the ocean. So I was like yea its lovely up here but can we go for something to eat now, so he says to me that he has booked a restaurant at the top of the hill!
So thinking it was a bit strange that he booked a restaurant without even mentioning it to me, off we went. Restaurant was absolutely stunning, it was over looking the beach.
So in we go and the place is only half full but h2b says to the guy that he has a table booked. I was starving and was pointing out tables that we could sit at but h2b and the guy just ignored me! (he was in on it)
So eventually we got our table at the corner of the balcony over looking the beach. We had a lovely meal and after it, h2b was like theres a reasson I brought you up here. As soon as he said that I knew
So off he goes down on the knees with the ring and asked me to marry him
I nearly got sick, with excitement and everybody staring
So we had our champagne and are getting married in May, four days before our 7 year anniversary

Hi everyone!!

Awww your stories are all so lovely! We're so lucky to have such thoughtful h2bs!!!

My engagement was a complete shock even though we're together nearly 6 years, I'm only engaged two weeks so still getting used to the idea

Basically I was in London on a day-trip with my dad, visiting relatives. I had been on the go since 4am so by the time the (delayed) flight landed in Dublin at 10pm that night, I was fit for bed and nothing more. My boyfriend had said he'd wait for us at the taxi rank outside of arrivals, so I called him on the way from the plane to make sure he was there (he's the type who'd forget things. And he's REALLY un-organised... or so I thought!) The BF said; "I missed ya so much I decided to come in and wait for you inside". I was thinking; "aww, how sweet, I've really missed him too!!".

Arrivals in Dublin Airport is split in two, I looked to the right and couldn't see a soul! Not one person on the right side of the divide, which I thought was really strange! Then my dad said; "Cristin, I think that's him over there" so I looked to the left and he was standing at the barrier smiling. I got suspicious because he looked really well; he'd had a shave, had his hair gelled and was wearing a shirt (my boy's an electrician so is used to walking around in snickers and a teeshirt). As I got closer to him I noticed my little sister was there too, but further up the barrier. She was also smiling at me. I stopped dead in my tracks in the middle of arrivals, completely confused, cause everyone ELSE was looking, smiling at me. That's when I copped the banner. It was the full-length of the barrier, and had "Will You Marry Me?" painted on it in pink (my fave colour!).

My reaction wasn't romantic, I literally said "F**K OFF!! REALLY???" out of pure shock. But then I just ran to him and the flood-gates opened! Everyone in the airport started clapping and cheering and taking photos! As we walked back to the car people were talking about it amongst themselves! It was surreal!!!

He had my dream ring made for me, which took 3 months. And nobody can believe that he planned it all! Only himself and his best friend (who'll be best-man!) knew about it. He called my sister 3 days before and told her to get up to Dublin to help him on the day.

I'm still in shock, but one thing I definitely know is; I've got a keeper, and he loves me more than anything else in the world. And I can't WAIT to be his Mrs.
