How much is a wedding cake?

Postby neknis » Tue Jan 12, 2010 8:01 pm

Hi girls,
I'm new to the site and in the throes of preparing for my wedding at the end of april this year.
Next thing on the list for me is sorting out the cake...haven't a clue about prices. We're getting a three tiered cake-nothing out of the ordinary. Just wondering how much is everyong paying for theirs or what should I expect to pay?

We're getting a specially designed one that going to cost €400. If you want nothing fancy you have a few options- Marks and Spencers (which is nice) or make it yourself and use the roll on icing!!

Hi Neknis and welcome!! :bluewave

We are looking at getting a 3tier also and have been quoted 350euro. My friend got married last year and bought one in M&S. Dunno what she paid for it but she told me that it was a great deal and it looked the part too.

The M&S cakes are really lovely! You could prob get your 3 tier cake for about 150euro if you go for the simplest one (which is actually the one i'm going for!) and decorate it yourself then. They do 3 for 2 offers throughout the year as well so you would be able to get the smallest tier for free :clapper

A friend of mine who bakes wedding cakes reckons around 400 should be the price for a three tier cake. She's one of my bm's and luckily she's gifting us the cake as a present

Hi we're getting a 4 tier (3 choc & I madiera) for £155 and just bought a large iced fruit tier in M&S for £38 to be left in the kitchen for serving up. You can definitely get bargains depending on what you want if you shop around. We were almost paying €500 before we found this guy!!

He's a guy in Cookstown, Co Tyrone. He made my sister's cake 4 years ago and it was gorgeous (If you like choc fudge cake) It looked amazing in the photos too. If you're interested I can PM you his details, once I check with him 1st.
