WE had to pay a deposit of €1000 when we booked the date with them, then the wednesday before our wedding they want hlf of the final amount when we give them the final numbers and then the remainder the day after the wedding.
I wouldnt be happy paying the full amount before the wedding but thats just me. I am going to even see if we can pay less before the wedding day.
WE took out hweddng insurance just encase something happened with one of the suppliers, with all the money we have paid in deposits

might look into not paying it until the day after coz your right if the service is bad i've no come back..

we paid €1000 as our deposit and then another €1000 6mths before and then another €7000 (90%) the day before.. Thankfully everything was perfect for us and then we only had €300 to pay the day after

We have paid 650 as a deposit. We intend to pay another 1000 around March then just settle the balance before checking out on the Sunday after the wedding. We are not required to pay anything apart from the 650 booking deposit until the day after the wedding, but the hotel says if we have it, we can give it. Whatever is easiest for us they said.

We had to pay €1000 deposit and then 6months before pay another €2000 and then the day after the wedding we pay the ballance. I would be very worried about the bank being in controll of the hotel and I think you need to get wedding insurance just to have a little bit of piece of mind

we paid €500 deposit and the balance will be paid day after the wedding. Its gas how each hotel policy varies ...

Yeah, I'm the same as Cheeky Monkey. We've paid €500 as a deposit, they wanted €1000. When we found out the bank was running the hotel we talked to the general manager and we're gonna set up an account with a solicitor wh owe can pay so the hotel has peace of mind that we have the money but we don't have to pay the money till after the wedding, just in case the hotel goes bust. We also have wedding insurance.

We paid 1000euro deposit to book the venue, which I thought was a bit expensive They asked for partial payments over the next few months but I asked was it ok to pay the day before the wedding and they accepted that. Just alot of money to be handed over. as it 6,600 in total just for room hire and meals

We paid a €1000 deposit to confirm the booking
€1500 6 months before the weedding
and now on Wed we are paying 75% for the full value.

The final amount has to be paid the day after the reception.

Just remember to keep all of your Receipts as our hotel were giving us our final figures which were wrong, only that I had all of my receipts to cover it, they would have charged us over the original price...

We paid an €800 deposit 2 years ago when we booked. We got married last month and paid the balance 2 days after the wedding upon checking out. I wouldn't have been happy to pay anything more than the deposit before the wedding day, as I don't believe in paying for a service til you receive it, especially something as expensive as a wedding reception.

ye i did think €3000 was quite a big deposit, considering any other hotel i looked at was around teh €1000 mark.
