Ideas for wedding favours

Postby TGR » Wed Nov 16, 2011 2:57 am

Hi girls :happywave
So h2b and I had initially decided on NOT getting wedding favours as they are an additional expense and we figured most people wouldn't miss them. However, recently h2b and I have changed our minds- most of relatives and friends are flying in from out of town and we'd like to give them a token of our thanks and something for them to remember our wedding by. Neither h2b or I have been to a wedding in 15+ years. What do people give for favours these days? We were thinking chocolates in a fancy box or a fancy soap. Are these too simple? Both of us live outside Ireland, so something that could be ordered online would be ideal. We don't want to spend a lot of money, but still want the favour to look classy. With only 6 weeks to the :justarried2 , the clock is ticking!

One of the most common things to get nowadays as a favour is sweets, the last wedding I was at had a little pack of love hearts in an organza bag, and the one before that had mini egss in a wee box.
I'm thinkin of going for yankee candle, they can be ordered online too and there is a sale on at the mo(it's been on for ages though). I'm getting one per couple and it comes in a little bag with a sticker with your name and date on the candle.
Another option is to donate to charity, the charity in question will normally give you a little card for each place setting or table to let the guest that you have donated on their behalf.
The other thing i'm thinkin of doing is to make little ferrero rocher trees as my centre piece and to have a little sign to say Eat me on it. not sure though yet.If you type wedding favours ireland into google it will bring you up loads of sites that will give you ideas

We actually chanced our arm with our Hotel and asked if they offer anything so they are doing little chocolates in cute little gold boxes and putting them on every table for everyone and (as far as I can tell) it's not costing us anything :clapper :clapper :clapper :clapper :clapper

My H2B's cousin got married this past August, and she had small packets of forget me not seeds as favours. Made a change from the sugared almonds I normally seem to get at weddings, which I never eat and end up throwing away. :)

LOVE the idea of the little jam jars - really cute :) We are having candles - 1 per couple and then hopefully a candy bar.

I am planning to have a candy buffet instead of favours. If it's done nicely I think it can be much more memorable. We're going to have little personalised bags and I think it's kind of fun to line up and fill up your own little bag :-) I can give you the details of they girl who is going to do ours if you like, not sure if we're allowed post this type of thing.

I was also at a vintage wedding fayre recently and they had little hemp bags filled with dried lavender, it smelled gorgeous and I thought they would be just lovely if they fitted with your theme, and they are something that people can actually take home and use!

Thanks for the offer march13bride, but h2b and I have just decided to go with little boxes with a couple of chocolates inside. We just ordered the boxes from the lightinthebox website, shipped them to my future in-laws and will be packing them a few days before the wedding. With less than 50 people coming, it shouldn't take too long.
