What information do you need to get of your witness' for your wedding?
I know you need name and date of birth but is there anything else?

Name, address and date of birth is all as far as I can remember. Oh and just a note when you register they will ask you to read the form before the final print to make sure there are no errors on it. I've eyes like a hawk and spotted a spelling mistake in one of the names. They said I was lucky as it can't be printed again and you'd have to start the process all over again. I don't believe that but just in case give the form a good looking over before you approve it.

The registrar never asked for our witnesses' address, just their names and dates of birth. And she also told us that if there is any change just call in and she will amend the form. Apparently even last minutes changes can be accommodated. The example our registrar gave was if the best man breaks his legs the night before the wedding, and the registrar's office is closed on the wedding day (Saturday) you just get a new witness and there's a bit for the priest to fill in to explain the circumstance. Good to know.

Oh that's great to know thanks. I was worried about our best man as he is supposed to be going to canada this year incase he changed his mind and stayed over insted of coming back, but told h2b yesterday he's going to stay till after our wedding now said he was afraid if anything changed while he was over there and couldn't come back he would not forgive himself(gives him a chance to spend more time with his little 'un too ). They are like brothers, hints why his own brother is going to be a grooms man insted of the best man.

No problem Idobelieveinfairies. And that's great that your best man can make it now. If it does change though I'd contact the registrar's office asap, as they might not all be as easy going as ours. Like they say in the ads - Donegal - up here its different!

Sorry to hyjack hun but can anyone remember the website to get the form for completing for the register as they gave it to me over phone the other day but cant find the piece of paper typical. Thanks

They didn't tell us to complete the form in advance, just gave it to us when we got there. In fact, didn't even know you could do it in advance or I would have. Sorry, that's not much help. I had a look on the HSE getting married website but no sign of it. Maybe ring them again tomorrow and check if you do need it and where to find it. Maybe they would email or fax it to you.

That is the website for everything you need, but I don't see a form you fill out in advance. As another missie said, it is usually done on the day. But that site should help you out.
