Is this too expensive??

Postby mrswtobe » Tue Oct 11, 2011 5:55 pm

Hi Missies this is honeymoon related but this forum gets more traffic.

Got a quote for a honeymoon off travel counsellors for a honeymoon next August. The honeymoon will be roughly €7000 which I think is expensive, it includes:

-Flight into San Francisco for 3 nights staying in the Nikko Hotel
-1 Night in Hilton Miami
-1 week on a Carribean Cruise visiting Florida, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and the Bahamas,
-8 nights in Cancun staying in the Jade Riviera Hotel.

I know we're fitting in a lot but other people seem to have gotten more for less money.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi mrswtobe

Ours is very close to that too, I think its a good deal, they are all high quality hotels, and your resort in Cancun is most likely all-inclusive .
We are doing the following
- 2nts San Fran
- 2nts Napa Valley
-3nts Vegas - Aria
- 10 Nts Excellence Cancun all inclusive & private transfers from the Airport

Hiya mrsw2be, well I just booked 1 nite Miami and the same cruise as you on the allure of the seas, oceanview with balcony and spent 4,000 so think it's pretty good price for ya really, I used Travel Broker in Clontarf, give them a buzz they were 400 less than travel counsellors for me.. Hope this helps :)

Thanks ladies. Will definitely look up Travel Broker. Beanie 2010 who did you book yours with? Yes the cruise and Mexico is all inclusive so whilst it may be a bit dearer we'll prob save in the long run.

Just a lot of money as we are spending about 30k on the wedding! But I suppose we'll only do it once, I'm just so sick of saving!

They are basically another travel agent, they are UK based but have agents all over the Ireland, web is http://www.travelcounsellors.ie so log on and go to find a TC and put in your area, they will come meet you at your house etc, you should see one if at any wedding fairs, I've seen one agent at all the fairs I've been at, they are usually great on prices but I just got a better deal this time elsewhere.. They have there own rates with all airlines and thousands of hotels so that's how they get better prices than we can, you should be able to get prices soon enough though, I was like you a few months ago dying to get ideas but flights etc were not avail, any ideas on what yis wanna do?

We are using Maureen Delmar Travel Agents and our rep is Lisa, she is amazing, I must have mailed her about 50 times, I went through three other agents from other places and none of them paid as much detail or listened to what I wanted as much as she did.

Our budgets are very much the same Mrswtobe, I can't wait for all the saving and spending my money on the wedding to be over too...

Hi Mrswtobe

Im just wondering if that is the exact order of your trip (San fran-miami-cruise-cancun-home)? Its just that you seem to be cris crossing the country a bit and im wondering is that what is shoving up the cost? maybe if you restructured it a bit moving from east to west (maybe start in miami-cruise-cancun-san fran-home) you might save a bit of money on the cost in flights?? just a thought. sounds like an amazing itinery though-so jealous :drool
