Killarney Wedding 2011 - Suggestions Appreciated

Postby deirdreoh » Wed Mar 09, 2011 10:03 pm

Hi Ladies,

Have booked my wedding for November in the Malton in Killarney for November. The wedding co-ordinator Emer is soo nice to deal with and very obliging. Have also booked the Cathedral for the service and a friend is taking care of the photography. Looking forward to it now. Planning on spending a week in Killarney for the wedding with family from the States so trying to sort out a few activites for during the day such as gap of dunloe trip & Jaunting carts etc.

I'm not based in Killarney and don't know any locals so I would really appreciate some suggestions which would make booking the following a whole lot easier...

A bands and a DJ. Looking for something that will suit a variety of ages but nothing too traditional as am planning a traditional band for the night after the wedding to entertain all the Yanks!!!

Also need help with a florist - I've been quoted €800 for some flowers for the Church, bouquets etc - seems a bit steep to me...

Thanks in advance xoxo

I'm from Killarney so if you need local info just ask!!

Don't know much about bands but Martin Howard is supposed to be a great DJ :) What florist gave you that quote?

I was looking at Cloudberry Bakery before my cousin offered to do my cake. She's based somewhere near milltown I think. Tasted some samples at the Kerry Wedding Show and they were amazing!!

Oh only saw this post now - I'm in the Malton in September - if you need info on florists etc let me know - I found everyone in town as very expensive and went with a mobile florist, and can recommend lots of other bits if you like.

deirdreoh I'm also getting married at the Cathedral and then having the reception at The Malton July of next year. I'm from the U.S. so all of my family and friends will be staying at least 5 days in Killarney. My fiance is from there so I have been many times and there is so much for us Americans to do and see, they will love it! I am still looking for a band and have been told Ian Hendrick was great. I was quoted only 250 euro for flowers for the church since my fiance was local. I can't remember the name of the florist off hand but I have it at home. Be careful though as I looked at the Cathedrals regulations and they seem pretty strict about what and where you can have flowers.
For the Americans, Paddy wagon tours does a day trip to the ring of kerry for only 15 euro and I believe they have other day trips that I'm sure your guests will love. Hope that helps!

Oh my wedding is in the Malton 2 weeks tomorrow - so excited!!!

One little word of warning is to make sure you agree the right guest fee for hotel - a few of my friends have not been given the wedding rate! But the Malton are amazing to deal with and it will be sorted out no problem
