Mothers of the bride/groom alternative to flowers gift?

Postby BHolidayBride » Fri Jan 27, 2012 3:54 pm

Hi Missies

Once again I'm looking for inspiration :) I know its tradition to give the mothers of the bride & groom a bouquet of flowers as a gift but I'm thinking I'd like to do something a bit different - I'm just not sure what! Is anybody else doing anything different or is stickign with tradition the way to go?

hey BHolidayBride, you read my mind. I'd like to get them something different too. Sure the flowers would be wilted before the weekend is even over. But like yourself, inspiration hasn't hit yet. My post hasnt helped much has it???!!!

This is one of the reasons i like being a part of this forum - have being thinking about this same topic for awhile and think i even commented on it before but lacking inspiration! but fair play Azriel great idea with the pandora charm - that's my mother covered! now to think of something for my MIL - I do like the idea of lighter with something engraved however MIL doesn't smoke but the inscription side of things is something i could work with but on what is the question!

Great topic Bholidaybride. Like all above we would just like that something different for the mothers and to honest I know my own mother nor MIL would say no to flowers but flowers are not my mother's favorite thing and MIL will be flying back to Poland so not as if she could take the flowers with her - even if they did last! - I must get my thinking cap on!!! just a thought Newbridge usually have some nice pieces that could be engraved?!? - Thinking of getting a silver plated modern clock - from the newbridge range - for my Bestman again with something engraved so suppose could work for mothers but then what about my Dad (B2B's father passed on) could they just be "Parent Gift's" - sorry for the hi-jack but a good post and looking forward to other missies' thoughts!

All great ideas - the pottery idea is lovely!
We have already decided not to get Flowers for the Mums - expecially as we are getting married at christmas!
I was thinking of Jewellery - both Mums wear nice Jewellery so just have to find 2 nice pieces now that will suit them individually!

Is anyone getting a gift for their Dad too? :)
