That is what our jeweller recommended us to do so even though we are not getting married til December we bought our wedding bands back in May! We hadn't planned on even looking at them til at least October but she said we would easily pay an extra 500 if we waited!

Same goes for diamonds!! My wedding band is about €650 for plain platnium (and that's custom made as it needs to fit around three curves). If I want to add 24 small diamonds to it the total price is €1,050.00 and he told me to order this in the next few weeks as diamonds are going up too!

Yeah we went in early June to the fella who made my engagement ring to order the wedding bands and we picked what we wanted designed for the wedding bands. He gave us just over 2 weeks to decide if we wanted to be guaranteed the price he had told us! Collected them a few weeks back and want to wear it now - so sparkly!!

Hi Mrsmcd2be, I’m not from that side of the country but it would be worth travelling if he was offering good prices. Thanks for yourr recommendation.
God Fionab1385 I’m looking at your ticker and thinking oh god getting so close!
muckypu! That’s unbelievable! Well done!!
Girls – Thanks for advice re increasing prices – I’m going to go to look at styles this weekend and see what suits ring on my hand and then order from one of websites.
Thanks again for everyone giving me such good advice.

mrsmcd2be wrote:Hey xmasbride by any chance are you near the midlands? There is a man called Willie Rabbitt who lives in Streete (between Longford and Mullingar) and he makes rings and they are half the price of jewellers. He's making our wedding bands and as my engagement ring is very unusual there's a bit too it and the price is great. I priced one in town to make and it was ridiculous!! He also made my friends engagement ring and it's an amazing vintage type ring.

Hi would you be able to pm me the contact number for the guy above please..

Hi littlemisscupcake no worries but I'm in work at the minute and it's at home somewhere. I'll fish it out and send it on.

I was going to suggest getting them made/ second hand. We got second hand white gold and had them customised - for environmental reasons (I'm averse to the chemicals used in gold mining and labour standards etc), but in terms of cost they are also way cheaper.

Is it worth checking if you have any old family rings/gold chains that could be melted down?
