If they dont turn up on the day and they have issued a contract bascially their insurance should cover any costs that the couple incurr .. thay would have too reinact the day or get somebody too fill in ...

Hi feb2012- yes, we did agree in the contract to pay the full amount 1 month before the wedding. I'm not too worried about her not showing up or doing a bad job. The way I see it, it's just not in her best interests to do that- half the success of a business is word-of-mouth. She's already bought her ticket to Dublin (she will be flying over from London). It would have been better to pay her the day off or day after, but we agreed in the contract to pay earlier, so thats that then.

I just find it strange that a supplier would like full payment before an event.
WOW that is a long way to come over... Hope it all goes well.

Hi there,
Some suppliers just require it as they have got burnt in the past etc. The supplier should notify you when booking or have it in the contract.
Its just like most suppliers wont accept cheques as final payment, encase they bounce.

It is a long way to come over. Luckily, her husband's Irish so she'll be coming over to Ireland for Christmas anyway and so we don't have to pay her anything for travel or a hotel, which saves on cost a bit.
