Another option that might work for you is to consider palladium. It's very like White gold, only it's a harder metal. It's cheaper than gold. And especially if your h2b would do a lot of hands on work then palladium would take much more abuse.

My engagement ring and wedding rings are made from palladium. It is not cheaper than gold I am afraid, but around the same price in some places. In the UK it is more expensive than white gold, but cheaper than platinum. My wedding ring is costing £1200 (€1370) for a palladium band and 4 diamonds, but it is custom made and quite a thick band to match my engagement ring. H2b has his heart set on titanium, so his will only cost £100! Which is great for the budget! :yeah

Oh my prices could be skewed as I got my wedding bands made in turkey.

Our wedding bands are cost €1700. Had only budgeted €1000 but hey we liked them and figured we'll be wearing them everyday for rest of our lives so was worth the extra expense.

Hi ladies,
I'm just back form the wedding show in the RDS and there was a great jewellers there called "Smooch" :yeah . The don't have a shop, instead they work wholesale to cut out the middle man and the additional prices. I got quoted for a 2mm plain 18K white gold wedding band 240Eur, and 390Eur for the 5mm ring for the H2B :cool :cool .
They custom make rings if you have an unusual shaped engagement ring (which I have) and I made an appointment for them to come to my home later this month with a selection of their rings where we can discuss what we want and prices in the comfort of our own home. I really liked them...their site is http://www.smoochrings.co.uk

I hope you find it helpful!

Got mine custom made in UK to fit around my engagement ring with 11 tiny diamonds in white gold- cost £450 about 520eur. Hubby got his made of palladium adbout £200. But the price of gold is shooting up so best to act fast and shop around.

Think the best bet is to look around big time. I was at the rds yesterday and go a quote for white gold ring with 8 diamonds and a twist in the middle as i have an unusual shaped ring but doesnt quiet need a cut out, for €850 and H2B is got a pladium for €500. cant remember how wide it is but it is quiet wide and has the brushed finish with a line going around it. The thing i found though is that some jewelers do wedding packages. The guy we got the quotes from give cufflinks, bridemaids chains, 2 coins, free engraving, 10% off next purchase and something else cant remember what!! now dont know what the cufflinks and chains are like but def think its worth a look!

We went back to the jewellers where H2B got my e-ring (Breretons on O'Connell St in Dublin) and got 18ct 3mm white gold wedding band with half band of square diamonds for €595 for me and H2B got an 18ct 6mm white gold wedding band with three diamonds for €795. H2B was very fussy when he was picking out his ring - was adament he wanted diamonds in it too so thats what brought up the price of ours - the plainer mens white gold wedding band averaged about €250 - €400 so i def think u can het wedding rings for bout the €800 mark. Best of luck!
Could I beeeeee any more excited??!!
