Price of Wedding Rings

Postby pollyi2b » Fri Sep 02, 2011 3:11 pm

Hey Missies,

Just wondering if any of ye can shed some light as to the cost of wedding rings we have budgeted €800 but at lunch i was looking in the window of fields and i don't think we will get ones for that price. We have a Loyalty card with fields which gives us i think 20% off but even with that i think i have budgeted law too low. Looking for white gold plain band for him and same for me mine might need a little dip init so that it wont rub off diamonds in my engagement ring!!! Can ye give me any ideas of how much ye have paid for your rings so have i have a rough guestimate of what to expect? xx

I think you should have no problem getting both rings for €800. We are getting ours in Goldsmith Jewellers in Balbriggan I think its drogheda street there on but we have been in a few times and found it is excellent. Another place to try is www.rocks.ie there in Dublin but what I really loved about the goldsmith was you tell him what your looking for and your budget and he goes through ideas with you.

We got our recently, and we were budgeting about a 1k for both, but ended up paying nearly 1.5k. Basically the price of gold seems to be sky rocketing, which is obviously pushing up the price in the bands. We had got the engagement ring in the same shop and they had done us a favour before so i dont think they were messing us around too much. If i were you i would check with the shop as early as possible, as the price on the ring in the shop is for THAT ring, and if you have to get a diff size / new ring it can go up and probable will.

:iagree I left my engagement ring in for cleaning recently and the jeweller who made it said it had gone up €1500 in value since he made it for me so he gave us new certificates for the insurance. Only have it a year :yikes2

We got both bands custom made in White gold for 900.
Another option that might work for you is to consider palladium. It's very like White gold, only it's a harder metal. It's cheaper than gold. And especially if your h2b would do a lot of hands on work then palladium would take much more abuse.

Hi, we got ours made by a local goldsmith, he was brilliant and we both have diamonds in and they were very reasonable. Would highly recommend him if anyone wanted details, he works out of Dublin but has customers from all over Ireland.

Sorry I know this probably looks like spam as it's my first post but I just joined and can assure you it's not at all. Just fortunate/unfortunate timing

Just ordered mine the other day. It's €1,075 platinum, had to be curved in three places to shape around my engagement ring and it will have 25 small diamonds. I went to a guy in Streete, between Longford and Mullingar. I priced the ring in town and it was twice what he quoted me. He says it's because he cuts out the middle man. H2b's ring was €250.00 gold. He just wanted a bog standard, durable ring and that was that.

My engagement ring and wedding rings are made from palladium. It is not cheaper than gold I am afraid, but around the same price in some places. In the UK it is more expensive than white gold, but cheaper than platinum. My wedding ring is costing £1200 (€1370) for a palladium band and 4 diamonds, but it is custom made and quite a thick band to match my engagement ring. H2b has his heart set on titanium, so his will only cost £100! Which is great for the budget! :yeah
