Question for winter brides

Postby TGR » Fri Nov 11, 2011 2:09 am

Hi girls,
Getting married in under 2 months now and still haven't sorted what I'm going to be wearing over my dress to keep warm. Will most of you be wearing a shrug or bolero? Also, did you get it for a good price?

My friend had a winter wedding and she had a beautiful fur (looking) white shrug over her shoulders, it was fantastic.... think she got it in House of Fraser in Dundrum.... she looked very 1940's in it - was fab!

Hey my B2B is going for a faux fur lined "wedding coat" (think it's just the edges and cuffs with sparkly things in-between  ) Although we are not getting married til March it can be still quite nippy and we have a couple of evening outdoor surprises planned so hence the "Wedding Coat".

I've seen pretty fur shrugs in Debenhams or lots of the bridal shops have different options for shrugs and boleros.
I am getting married in March and hadn't planned on getting anything. I have pashminas for the bridesmaids just to have if they are standing around but not for photos if you get me.

I have seen a pic of it and it does look class alright...thanks...think she opting for a more Princess Ballroom dress though so will have to see how that works but there is extra length in it (the coat) so am sure it will go over the end and train or something...anywho thanks for comment.

Hi all, just to let you know that I bought two little short jackets (short sleeves) in a cream kind of fur in Dunnes today for €15 each!! They are lovely and will be perfect for the bridesmaids to keep them warm. They wouldn't be the best quality as the price suggests but they won't have them on in the photos! Also got a small one for my 3 yr old niece who is flowergirl and its just adorable!! haven;t thought about myself yet though so will be nosing around this post to see some ideas of where to get mine!!!

I have photographed lots of winter weddings, and it is important to have something to keep you warm, you can always whip it off for some photographs. As well as shrugs, and boleros think about coats and jackets, I have come across some lovely ones over the years in velvet, and maybe in a contrasting colour too...
Here is a link to a winter wedding featuring a fur coat, and I have attached a few other pics too.

I had a feather bolero - think it was this one http://www.joanlee.co.uk/ didn't hide the dress at all and i still could wear a veil with it. I got it in the bridal shop I got my dress in

As you can see could still see all the detail of the dress with it on

I am not wearing anything in the church. I will buy some sort of pashmina to wear in the car on the way to the church but otherwise I am going to brave the cold !!! Apparently you don't feel the cold at all on the day cuz you are so excited. My dress is backless and I still don't care, still not wearing anything but my veil !

im not wearing anything over my dress.il wear a coat on route to the church and will leave it in the hallway before i go in. i tink a fur shrug or ballero would just ake from my dress.i got pashmina's for the bridesmaids&dey are leaving them in the hall aswell. i tink, and have heard from previous brides, dat adrenalin will kick in on the day and i wont feel the cold.

thanks for the advice girls! I think that I'll go with no shrug and maybe just a pashmina to keep me warm on the way to the church and reception. I certainly don't want to cover up the dress. Hopefully, it won't be too cold!

I was certainly glad of my bolero getting the photos done and meeting everyone outside the church. And mine didn't hide my dress
