RSVP card or not?

Postby mrsfa2b » Sun Nov 13, 2011 2:51 pm

Ok, ordered invites...and they came (and are lovely) my next dilema is...rsvp cards... Do ya put them in or not? My own mother recently got an invite and there was just a mobile number and an email address at the end of the invite. She thought that was a great idea. What's the 'done thing' ??

I'm putting in RSVP cards, but the main reason is because we aren't living in the country and don't have our Irish mobiles here. Also, I think the older relatives like actually sending the card off by "snail mail"(that's what the mother calls it!!!)
I don't think you have to do it for all of the guests, I doubt my kid brother would even know how to buy a stamp to post it back, so for certain guests I think that email and texts are a great idea.

We are including a RSVP card with a Stamped addressed envelope so that all people need do is pop it in the post. I know RSVP are another expense but I think people will respond faster if they have a card. I know someone who didn't include them and their heart was broken in the lead up to the wedding ringing and texting people to find out if they were going or not. For the minimal expense, I defo think they are worth having. We are making out own so they aren't too expensive. Best of luck

It's completely up to yourself - as a designer I wanted a full wedding stationery set so included an RSVP and we were very aware that a number of our guests are not internet savvy and may have a difficulty with just an email address as a point of RSVP and like mentioned above we included a self-addressed envelope so all they had to do was stick a stamp on it and pop it in the post - I also agree that the actually RSVP card is a great way of keeping track (for you) of who exactly is coming or not coming as there is always those little technology gremlins were a text/call/email may go astray - now in saying that we also provided an online RSVP on our Wedding website and supplied an email address and a mobile number for the more web/internet orientated of our guest list - so all angles covered :)...again it's your choice in the end but like lheartdiamonds I don't think I could deal with chasing up texts/phone calls.

We just put an email address, we just couldn't afford to get seperate RSVP cards and envelopes. You will still have to chase people anyway nearer the time!!!!

I was just going to do the email address/phone number thing too but when I ordered my invitations there was an offer on so I got the RSVP cards free!

We did rsvp cards and an e.mail and 2 phone numbers. It still won't combat the problem of people just not bothering their hole to answer. So annoying!

Only one person rsvp'd by phone. And I'm still waiting on a few cards back. But I did better with the cards than the phone/e.mail. My sil2b rsvp'd for herself and totally didn't refer to the other 3 people on her invite. 2 of whom are NOT coming, I am meant to be a mind reader! :D

My parents and I loved getting the rsvps.
