Show your wedding bands!

Postby Loveknowsnodistance » Thu Nov 17, 2011 4:43 am

I didn't find a show your wedding bands thread, so I will show mine to start! if there is a thread like that and I didn't find it, please point me to it if possible, as it is better to have them in just one place. :halloween

So, H2B and I will get married twice. Once will be january of 2012 (in two months from now!) just in the courthouse, and the second time will be two years after it, the religious cerimony. It will give plenty of time to the brazilian guests to save money to go to Germany for the celebrations! :justmarried

I am spending vacations in Brazil and bought the wedding bands here (will go back to Germany in two weeks), got the custom made, with 15 per cent off price, because the owner is a close friend of the family and it was a gift to us.

they are simple rings, as H2B wanted.

the rings, with the engraving inside. His has my name on it (Uila), and mine has his name on it (Anton). they are white gold.

I am brazilian and in Brazil its tradition to wear matching wedding bands. so a ring different or even the same full of diamonds wouldnt do it for me, i guess it got so deep into my mind the cultural thing of matching bands that it would feel wrong somehow. if he wants to give me an eternity ring someday, I will be delighted, to wear on my ring finger on the right hand. so i love the classy look of the white gold bands. Im really delighted with our rings and can't wait to wear mine everyday! <3

They look brilliant loveknowsnodistance! h2b and I also have matching plain white gold wedding bands- I rarely, if ever, wear any jewellery and I really like the simplicity of a plain band. Can't wait to wear mine everyday too!

Look at you with you two rings Mucky! they are both fab.
we have our plain bands bought, but they are back home in Ireland so can't post a pic of them. mine is 2mm and his is 4mm white gold. want to get them engraved though, but i'm worried mine will be too narrow, what ye think?

Loveknowsnodistance, yours are beautiful.

mightnt be too narrow lainsey ask the jewellers when youre next in. H2b has taken my E ring to be redipped today so when hes home tonight ill be able to see which ring looks nicest next to my sparkler

they were seriously excellent prices - my 2 rings and h2bs ring came to less than £150 stg - i went to the jewellery quarter in Birmingham for them

Unfortunately our bands have yet to arrive in the country so can't join in yet  but can add them when they arrive I will try to remember to post a pic - I say they haven't arrived yet as we picked up ours whilst away in Poland in August and my B2B's mother got them up from the jewellers when they were ready (we had finished our holidays and back in Ireland in September) and as she is coming here for Xmas this year she will have the special package with her :bounce (My B2B's mother didn't want to send them by courier or registered post, incase they got lost / stolen... so is personally escorting them into Ireland   ) the above rings are really nice and quite similar to what we have went with -

if I remember correctly they are 18ct white gold 6mm for me, 4mm for her, plain band, court or rounded in style I think! rather than flat profile - initially my B2B was thinking of one with diamonds (three going across the band) as she doesn't wear her engagement ring due to work - which if I'm honest is a bit I don't know disappointing..no that might be the wrong word, not to go on about it but I went a bit out of my depth for it money wise but when i saw it I knew it was the one (1carat solitaire with princess cut diamonds on the band) it was only after I seen it and had said yes in my head that I asked how much but I went with my gut and got it, knew i was only going to be doing this once so weighed it up that way & knowing that we weren't going to be having a big wedding either could manage something that be extra special - and would love for her to be able to wear it all the time but as i said due to her work she can't but no harm it was a big surprise for her (did it all on my own) and she loves it and doesn't want to get it damaged so it gets taken out on Sundays :D and as long as she is happy that is all that matters to me ) - god bless her though she doesn't even know how much it was or would be, she thought hundreds (which was a huge amount in her head) but i suppose that is just down to her being from a different country with a different culture, so have decided not to tell her and live in continued bliss :embrace , hopefully she won't check the house insurance   any who back to the wedding bands we had a good chat about it after looking different ones in different jewelers and thinking long term having the sparkly engagement ring sitting beside the diamond wedding band looked too much and kinda took away from the bling and wow of the engagement ring so we went for similar plain bands with engraving on the inside. Also so glad we got them while away as we made a saving of nearly €700 compared to the cheapest of the quotes we got here. :bounce :bounce

here's a pic of mine. Like I said, just a plain white gold band. Mine's a 2mm and h2b's is 4mm. Will probably get it engraved after the wedding if I can.

:bounce just back from Boston with my wedding ring I kept in on my finger as I didn't want it to get list or get charged by customs. H2Bwas a little put out dat I was wearing it and he's day type at all! I was so excited with it I found it hard to take off.

Here's a design of the ring I am having made. My engagement ring is unconventional as I don't like big diamonds and I had it designed and made in the UK. That is the top one with the sapphire. I had the wedding ring commissioned to match and I am waiting for its delivery. They are made of palladium, 4mm wide each, but with a tall profile as I like my rings chunky. H2b is a simple 6 mm court made from titanium (as it is what planes are made from and he loves planes! )
