There's no need to be nervous giving a speech - everyone's rooting for you, and you can talk everyday, its just there're more people in the room just then. The way to think of it is "so what!", you know?

Its all about practising it and being calm.

Every ONE of those people out there wishes they were YOU at that moment.




But I suppose its a little easier for me now - I learned a long time ago to speak in front of people, and even sing. I once sang in front of 120,00 people, live in the Phoenix Park, and 80,000 supporting Westlife a few weeks later. genuinely, it was harder to sing in front of 8 people the following Wednesday.



But there was a day, long ago where I had to speak and sing into a mic for the first time.
Practise your speech aloud - its the ONLY way. That way you'll not trip over words that look alrigt on a page but don't roll off the tongue together soe asily

Remember that poor BBC radio presenter who had to say "Jeremy Hunt, Culture Secretary" for the first time on air?

I won't tell ya what he actually ended up saying!

We would have them after the meal, if we were having speeches. As a guest, I get very impatient when people have speeches before the meal, as I want to just get on with eating! Most people wouldn't be like me though, just the way I am. Greedy...

You're not alone LMEC, that was my one and only thought! I didn't even want to hear my own speech till I had eaten!
