Sunday Wedding

Postby Trish24xxx » Tue Nov 08, 2011 10:59 pm

Hi just wondering if anyone can help me?I am hoping to get married on the 5 th of August next year, its a Sunday so ideally we would like to do it all in the same day ceremony and reception etc!But i discovered you cannot get married on a Sunday here in Dublin, i know you can in Cavan but you need to know a priest who will agree to do it.Some recently told me some registrars will do sunday civil ceremonies but i cant seem to locate one.Does anyone have any info that might help us?I would be greatful for any suggestions, thanks a mill.

Hi Trish, I can't help but I'm sure if you contact the priest/registrar directly they should be able to help. Could you google a listing of registrars in the area or ask at the health centre (where you register your wedding) maybe they'd know more. I never knew you couldn't marry on a Sun, that's so weird!! Sorry I'm no help :(

Hi we have the exact same problem! we want to get married on a Sunday too in July 2012. It seems dublin meath and kildare won't let you marry in a church, but you can in cavan (if you know a priest who will do it) Some solemniser's will do it too or you can get legally married first and just have a blessing on the day. Good luck with the search!!

We're hoping to get married on a Sunday too, but we're getting married in Wicklow. Just wondering if any Missies knew if that's possible. :)

In the disocess that dont have a ban on sunday weddings, it is up to the individual priest. i asked our priest about a sunday wedding as we wanted to get married on ur anniversary, which falls on a sunday, ive known the man well for years cos we live across the road. he said he has done them before, which i knew, but he would really prefere not to-if we really had our heart set on the date and wouldnt budge he would have tried to accommediate us but in the end we decided on the having our wedding the day before. Have a look at the various disocess websites, if they dont allow sunday weddings it should say it. hope it works out for ye.

Hey ladies, I'm getting married the Sunday before Christmas & we're having a civil ceremony in our hotel. Our solemniser is Tom Colton & he is fantastic, he's basically let us write our own ceremony including our own vows which will be really romantic. He's a "Spiritualist" but has said he won't mention anything about religion or Spiritualisim in our ceremony as H2B was really weird about it, he's an atheist. He's a registered Solemnister with the HSE, he's loads of info on his website; http://tomcolton.com/?page_id=792

Hope this helps x
