The finicky bits! Help

Postby mrswtobe » Tue Jan 24, 2012 6:44 pm

Hi missies,

I found it really easy to organise the big things but I am at a loss as to where to start with shoes and underwear. Where is the best place to look for bridal shoes? Are brides wearing their 'special' underwear under their dress. Are brides going bare legged or wearing stockings? I have an a line dress so don't know whether to just get a bra/basque or what. Sorry girls so confused about the underwear and don't know where to start with the shoes....

I'm just going to get shoes from Dorothy Perkins, Office, Schuh, ASOS or something, just look for shoes you like! You don't specifically have to get bridal shoes, bridal shoes generally seem to mean pointy white pieces of crap that I wouldn't be seen dead in in my own home never mind the most important day of my life!

:iagree have to say i agree, i do not like the typical wedding shoes... you can get lovely white / ivory / cream shoes in all good high street shops.. just pick a pair you like and you might get use out of them again..
Underwear really depends on your dress, get a good support bra especially if your wearing a strapless dress, the difference a good bra makes to a girls figure is amazing!!! panties - go for what your comfortable in... no one will be seeing them apart from you and your new husband :inbed

Im getting married in december, and i will be bare legged... i just dont like clear tights, but again, its what your comfortable in...

Happy planning :dizzy

:iagree totally. I got mine in the schuh sale, they're irregular choice and amazing and sexy. Not your typical wedding shoe but ya, i like them and want something i can wear again. Not some ugly shoe that'll collect dust in my wardrobe!!! plus they're now my something blue

mrswtobe, go with what you want, something that suits your personality.

with regards underwear, i've already gotten my bra, the wonderbra ultimate strapless. it's fantastic, i'm a curvy girl 36f and it is by far the best bra i've ever worn and so comfortable. wanted to have it for trying on dresses. Got two. one for trying dresses on and one for the actually day. that's in the bag with my blue shoes. going to get matching undies for that. Don't know if you are in and around galway city at all but I would recommend elegant undies, the lady in there is fantastic and so helpful. might be worth a trip down, you could do a girlie night.

stockings or not are a personal choice, i'd prob go without. best of luck mrswtobe, you havent long left now. very exciting times :bounce :bounce :bounce

My dress shop phoned me the other day to say may dress is in so I asked what do they suggest for a bra . I'm not particularly big on top and top is strapless so the lady told me just to get an m&s bra. They had a choice of 2 so it was all very simple. Shoes are my something old......a pair of sandals I have had 4 years. They are comfy as well :bluewave :D

Yep ill be doing the same most "bridal" shoes are awful!!! love my shoes so want something that I love! Have my heart set on Louboutin's but really dont think the budget will stretch!!! tried the whole "wedding present to me" trick on himself but doint think that is going to stretch either!!! :rofl :rofl

Bra and "special" underware suppose will depend on dress but hate stockings and tights so will be bare legs!
