2013 Brides
Re: 2013 Brides
Ok MRS H 2013 do not panic!! You have loads of time! My sister is getting married on Saturday week and is the most laid back disorganised person I know and it is all coming together for her so you will be fine!
Hopefully I can take my own advice
We got engaged last November and decided on August 2013 as my little sister had already planned to tie the knot in June 2012. We didn't want to take from her excitement leading up to the big day so we have discreetly booked our venue, caterer, photo booth and we got our bridesmaids dresses in a Debenhams sale. Obviously I had to tell her about the bridesmaids dress as I needed her to try it on but I think we managed to not steal any limelight. My job means that I work odd, long hours six days a week so we have been trying to get lots done on the Sundays I have off, which is also the only time I get to see my H2B even though we live together. I am unemployed for the whole of July so we are going to go into wedding planning hyper drive! My sister will be married and I don't have to worry about stealing anyones thunder. I am hoping to find my wedding dress in July as I don't know when else I'll have time (back to work in August). Only problem is I have no idea what kind of dress I want so I will be trying on everything and anything. I quite like Amy Hubermans dress but I am not as skinny as her and can not afford a Stephanie Allin! I was also hoping to lose a bit of weight before I went dress shopping but it hasn't happened. But all is not lost! A friend of mine went dress shopping, ordered her dress and then lost loads of weight. The shop assistant almost collapsed when she went back for her fitting. They had to take 6 inches out of the corset but they did it and it was manageable! This gives me hope
I've already organised to go and see a band that we liked and could be a potential wedding band and we are going to try to make a website and save the date magnets in July. Also going to try to tackle the guest list conversation with our parents. H2B has over 20 aunts and uncles, all with partners who he hasn't seen in years and years and who I have never met. His Mother wants them all to be invited. eeek

ha ha thanks
You have loads done and its really nice that your being so considerate of your sister. She will appreciate it and she will then get really into your wedding ha ha . My H2B can not even name his Uncles on his dads side yet has still invited them to the wedding !! I haven't met them ever , luckily he has only 3 of them i don't think i could cope with 20 !!!! Can you say your having a small wedding for close family and friends ?!

Re: 2013 Brides
Unfortunately we have loads of really good friends who we want to see us get married. We have been together for over 7 years so have made a lot of friends along the way. Also I'd like all of my aunts and uncles to be at the wedding and both myself and my H2B know them but I don't want my H2B or his family to feel like his relations aren't as important as mine. It is a total minefield which we are going to broach in July. I also have a lot of friends who are in relationships where I haven't met their partner so we might just invite their partner to the afters and them to the main. Politics politics!! But we are going to try to make the afters a bit of an event in itself with a band, a photobooth and a chipper van and a late bar. We also have the venue for the whole weekend so are going to have a big BBQ on the day after the wedding that everyone will be invited to so no one feels left out.

Re: 2013 Brides
Have only joined up today, whoever said this was addictive was right!!
Getting married in June next year, so a 2013 Bride as well.
Feel am getting there on the organisation - so overwhelming at the start! Have our venue booked and the church, an approx number of guests (to which my mother keeps adding every time I see her!), bridesmaid chosen, photographer booked (luckily I had a good friend who is a professional photographer), DJ booked (couldn't afford the band as well unfortunately) and videographer booked. Had booked in for dress shopping and bought last week. Still in shock, as only my 2nd day of looking, but thrilled with it! So have switched all my 'bridal viewings' this weekend to 'bridesmaid viewings' so hopefully make some progress there. My bridesmaid is my 20yr old God-daughter who is off to the States at the end of Aug to study for a year. Back a week before the wedding so pressure on to get her sorted!! Arrgghhh....

Re: 2013 Brides
Oh my god ClaireBear you are so organised!!!!!!
Have venue, church, band, dj and florist booked, am kinda terrified at the idea of going shopping for my dress but over the moon excited at the idea of going bridesmaid dress shopping - strange I think!
My bridesmaids on the other hand are UNBELIEVABLY organised and met up this week to start planning my hen and I'm normally the organised one!!
