Saving tips for the big day
Saving tips for the big day
Hey girls
I must say I used to be great at saving but now it seems almost impossible. Can anyone give me tips on saving for the big day because I am starting to lose sleep over thinking about it... All tips welcome

I'm finding it so hard to save money with all this planning..getting a bit stressed myself about the money side of it. I found the only place i could save money on was my grocery shopping.Tesco seems to work out the cheapest,i just buy whatever is on special.I've stopped buying takeaways too,so thats probably saving us 20 quid a week also.

Yes takeaways really add up. I try and make something on take away like on a Friday like enchiladas or beef with black bean sauce. It actually works! Get a bottle of wine and delic! I also car share for work xx

Re: Saving tips for the big day
If you were looking to save money on the wedding itself, you could book a DJ for the full wedding and ask them to divide the music up as a band set and then a wedding disco.
We have been providing lots of full weddings lately for people on a budget as it does save a huge amount of money. We have some testimonials and pictures in our profile in the wedding directory or check us out on http://www.explosivedjmusic.ie
Enjoy the planning.
Also for my own wedding this September, I found setting up a standing order when wages come in to go straight out helps, if you don't see it, you can't spend it!

Hi, yes we are based in Roscommon but distance isn't a problem and travel nationwide
If you would like a quote, drop me an email on [email protected] , just let me know the date, venue and if it is for a full wedding or for after the band. I'll get back to you with a price.
Also if you mention mrs2be we can give you a 10% discount too!

Re: Saving tips for the big day
Hey Fiancloubear,
I agree with MrsKenny2013 about the taking money out of your wages as then temptation is gone once the money has left the bank account.
More tips for saving on the Big day that I have used is:
-not having RSVP's with invitations (taking out cost of the rsvp's themselves, the envelopes and the stamps) we just put our names and mobile numbers and said rsvp by Xdate.
- im not having real flowers (except button holes that are a present from my great aunt) I ordered button bouquettes from etsy.com and got mine BM's and a throw away one for €113.
-we are having a civil ceremony in the hotel we are having the reception in taking away the cost of decorating the church and all the other expences of it. Ceremony room is free in hotel so only costing registrar fees.
- we are only having a family ceremony and meal and then a big party after in the hotel inviting everyone. My family is HUGE so would cost a fortune to invite everyone and their partners and kids etc plus I cant listen to people complaining that aunty marys sisters goldfish wasnt invited etc etc.
-me and my H2B are only having one witness/bridesmaid/bestman each so we only have to pay for the hire of one extra suit as my BM said she will buy her own dress so she can wear it again. And father of the bride and groom are wearing their own suites as they want to be comfortable.
-Getting friends and relatives to use their connections to get better deals on things such as DJ's, buses for evening guests....you never know until you ask.
Sorry about the long post and I know most of the above might not be appropriate but if even one helps its still money in ypur pocket. Best of luck with your plans and your BIG day

Re: Saving tips for the big day
Hi Ladies,
I've a standing order set up to take money out of my account every Friday and go into my credit union account as its harder to take the money out! they offered me pass card so I could get the money out after hours but that would defeat the purpose
And I definitely won't be doing rsvp's but will have text, email and postal address on invite if they really want to post something, one thing though is, lots of invitation companies automatically assume you want these and they are already included in the price!
