If the funds were there I would sooooo get Franc on board...

We are lucky enough that our venue is stunning so the room doesnt need a backdrop etc...

Yeah I'm with MrsMtobe - if I can't find a job soon maybe I'll set up a wedding planning business! Actually H2B brought home a really funny book the other day - "Wedding Babylon" by Imogen Edwards-Jones - it's all a behind-the-scenes look at the world of wedding planning and how crazy brides can be!

totally agree with you girls...was thinking how much I've enjoyed planning my own that I would easily do this as a career, I could be a supplier on here   and anyway think I will be lost for things to do to keep me busy once the big day is over :D
Also have to agree about the brides on wedding programmes though some are complete nuts, dont envy their planners at all!!
Thanks for the tip about that book, I love a good read :D might just pick up a copy myself....

Myself and the Mister are getting married in Lanzarote, We've looked into wedding planners, and they cost a bomb!
Im a full time student so I only work part time and he's a Fireman (LUCKY ME!) So we are trying to do it on our own. Its working quite well. We have plenty of choice and most places employ at least 1 english speaking person.

I think we'll appreciate the day knowing we've worked our asses off!!! haha Plus my Mam is GREAT! Shes helping us out so much!

There's still plenty to do when you have a wedding planner though to be honest. We've been over to Portugal twice already and met the caterers, florist, cake maker, viewed a few bands etc etc. We've done all the research into guest accomodation and plans for events the day before and after the wedding. And we've just made all our invites ourselves too. So there's plenty of planning and organising even when you have a wedding planner! For us she's been there mainly to give suggestions and recommendations and to sort out the tasks that we ask her to. For us it's been well worth the €650. Although if we'd chosen a hotel as a reception venue I might have considered dispensing with a planner as most of the hotels have in-house English speaking wedding co-ordinators so I think it'd be a lot easier to manage without paying for a wedding planner.
