OMG!!!!

lol some people who read this will probably think im we`re crazy, stupid, silly or just plain a**Holes  But last night we went to the hazel hotel for our final get together with the wedding co ordinater, anyhow we were being charged twice as much than what we expected, first of all we didnt get anything free, no champagne on arrival, no room, no rooms for guests, we had to pay for the stage and lighting etc etc...want to leave this short  I spent the last few days crying, worrying where we were gonna come up with the money and bla bla bla.........

So today we had a crazy crazy idea  we cancelled the hazel and now have the killeshin hotel booked for our wedding   4 days before wedding

Are we mad to do it 4 days before wedding lol we have best part of the guests informed already.....

OMG No bother to you!! I think that's great, why should you be ripped off so close to your wedding? Fair play, I think that's great. Sure it's just a matter of letting your suppliers & guests know they're going somewhere else instead and if you get a better deal then happy out!

Fair play to you both. How the hell did everything work out twice the price of what ye had booked? Just wondering though, did they not keep some or all of your deposit? Or are they expecting some percentage payment of what the cost of the reception with them would have been? Most places would ask for that or would stipulate this when ye book. Did you sign a written contract? I'm just interested.

Hi all thanks so much for your replies!! Believe it or not i was a mess and i mean a mess!! To make a long story short i was getting charged for use of the stage, there was no rooms kept for us, der was no complimentary drinks on arrival, we had to pay for security, as for the corkage it was a ridiculous price of 7euro per bottle! He did offer to half the price of the chair covers and bows but didn't make a difference. It all came to 55euro per person not including wine. I wasnt happy at all Our best man took over and make a quick phone call and luckily the killeshin had an opening saturday and were willing to take on as many people as they could, we got everything for 40e per person and i mean everything. 4 complimentary rooms and 12 more rooms for guests!! Couldnt of gotten a better offer!! No deposit needed either....i caaaaaaant wait!!

We didnt sign any contract with hazel, we paid them 500e deposit and another 700euro towards the dinner! We probably wont see a penny of that again though....

It`ll be the last time i`ll ever go to hazel again to be honest.....cheap my ar*e lol

Took us one hour to decide whether to book killeshin or not :)

:) am happy out!

This seems a bit strange .. at some point before you handed over money for a deposit they must have gone through the charges for the night ..

If no contract or terms and conditions where given when the deposit was paid ... then where does it say your deposit is non refundable... ???

How many meetings did you have with the hotel ...

Have to agree there. You HAVE paid out over €1000 already to them.... and they should have given you the 'agreed' terms in writing... nothing at all???
