In what way did the shop mistreat you? that in itself is inexcusable! Unfortunately shops do not have to refund the money if you change your mind about something or it doesn't fit. The law states that if something is poor quality, is not fit for the purpose intended or is broken then you are entitled to a repair, refund or credit note if you agree. In saying that, most shops although not legally obliged change something with a receipt and if it is in good condition out of good will.

Is that the only thing you've bought in the shop?? If you've spent a lot of money then they should have extended you the courtesy of refunding it for you. I would speak to the manager about the attitude of the sales assistant most definitely, and perhaps the manager will extend the courtesy of refunding it based on her attitude.

Sorry to hear this, I would go to store manager as other mrsv2be mentioned, Although I do know that most shops have no return policy on jewelery (im guessing for health and safty reasons). I wouldnt let it go cause you shouldnt have been treated like that, I would try not let some stuck up assistant taint the day you have been planning for so long , what was said if you dont mind me asking ..

So sorry to hear about the way you were treated. :hug3 You are not usually allowed to return any accessories in a bridal store for hygiene reasons but it is unacceptable to be treated like this. Look up national consumer agency or citizens advice and they can advise you if you want to make a complaint about this behaviour. I know it's easier said than done, but you shouldnt let it ruin your big day. Maybe you could put it on the buy and sell page here or on ebay and get some money for it?

oh my god, just read your post and this actually sounds like a traumatic experience! Im so sorry you have experienced this so close to your day and one of my pet peeves is definitely customer services and a firm believer in there is a nice way to say NO.

I think what you should do is write an email to the manager of this store! express how unprofessional the staff treated you and if you were dealing with the manager explain you were not happy with their level of service either. You might not get anything from this but it is their duty to apologise that you feel this way because of their handling of the situation, but you will feel better when they acknowledge this.

I find also writing the email will make you feel better after having written it! im constantly complaining I believe we dont do it enough in this country. The pen is mighter than the sword (I know this sounds sooooooooo sad what ive just written, im like an old biddy  sorry)

http://www.consumerconnect.ie/eng/Hot_T ... Qodi2XIzQ..

Have a read of that and see does it shed any light.
Would you believe myself and my sister had an almost identical experience yesterday buying flower girl shoes in a shop in Dublin. They were overpriced and my sister felt under pressure so just bought them. Then when we examined them, there were all pulled threads and scuffs on one shoe. When we went back she accused me of damaging the shoes myself and refused a refund, only a credit note. I'm toning down the exchange a lot here, the abuse I got off her was unreal. Over the years we have bought a good lot of things in this shop and I will never again recommend them after the disgusting carry on. My sister is printing out the info in this link and meeting the manager tomorrow.

I cant believe how you were treated. thats just crazy to be left in tears by a sales assistant thats disgraceful customer service. i think you should contact consumer affairs they will know exactly if you have a case or if anything can be done. :hug3 :hug3 :hug3 :hug3

Thanks for the replies girls am still livid, its was a tiara and let her know as soon as i had my hair trial, she owns the shop so her behaviour was a disgrace in my book and the assistant didnt know what to do and was also upset by her.
When trying said tiara it kept falling of my head but she said my hairdresser would sort that out i fell for it and feel it was sold under a bit of duress. There is no till in shop and my initial reaction ti her was money grabber should have went with my gut............
After all the money i spent there im ragin
I have never had someone shout at me the way she did will never forget it

I hate rude shop assistants - grrrrr. There was no excuse for the way she spoke to you but tbh if it was a tiara then her reasons are for hygiene and you prob don't have a leg to stand on. Now I'm the biggest complainer in the world but if I were you, considering how upset you are, I would let it go, for now, and when you day/hm are over you will be in a better place to pursue, if you so choose to. It's a horrible experience and as I said she had no right, I would be livid too, but I'll be honest I think talking about letting it "taint" your wedding day is a bit dramatic, the only person that can let it taint your day is you so let it go temporarily. If it helps you to let it go just think revenge is sweet and you'll deal with her when you get back. Do not let her ruin the build up for you either, she's not worth that, you'll be the only to regret letting it get to you that much. :hug3
