Videography

Postby azriel » Sun Oct 16, 2011 9:56 pm

From day one, h2b and I have agreed we didn't want a video. I'm starting to waver now- so many friends/family have told me I'd regret not getting one. I just have images of big huge black cameras and guests dodging the camera. What you think missies?

Hi Azriel,

I think if your budget will stretch to a videographer you should really think about one. It will capture things you miss on the day like groom and guests arriving at church/registry office. I didn't want one to start with but after thinking about it and doing some research I decided to get one. I was a bit concerned that he would be intrusive and get in the way. But when I went to meet him he said he was quite happy to stay in the background and not try to get guests to talk to the camera. We have to meet him again a couple of weeks before the wedding, he wants to hear exactly what we want him to do. I think its important you talk to the videographer in person before booking. Don't just go by his work displayed on his website or a DVD of another wedding. I'd say his personality and whether he listens to what you want is just as important as technical skills.

Its also better value than I expected - €750 for 2 camera people all day(father & daughter team), from arrival at church to first 6 dances, with 5 copies of the DVD. We paid a €250 deposit.

I Was the same we weren't going to have one at all and then slowly we changed our minds. Just got my highlight clip of the videographer tonight and it's fantastic. Yet I'm looking at it going where was the camera for that shot??? As I honestly did not notice the camera the majority of times. In fact generally I had to make an effort to see him on the day as he did such a good job of slinking away into the background, I really did not want a videographer who was going to be all up in my face. We used tony Malone, you can have a look at his work on www.tonymalonemedia.com
