Wedding Cars - How Much??

Postby Shivers » Tue Oct 18, 2011 4:14 pm

H2B just rang me all excited to tell me that he had wedding car sorted for me - €550!!! This is for one car (a maserati) to drive me & my dad to church and then me & H2B from church, for photos and then to the reception. Does that not seem a lot for about 2-3 hours?

It means the bridesmaids will be taking a lift and H2B will have to make his own way to the church.

Its savage money. Is the car really important to you??

Personally I didn't want bridal party to have to be faffing about looking for lifts etc and herding them all into the right cars. I'm using a family members merc for me and my dad, then me and h2b. And I've booked a limo for my BM's, GM's and page boys. It cost 300 euros. It's a few minutes spin, so I couldnt justify spending too much. But if cars are important to you, go for it. Everybody has different priorities.

Hi - it does seem alot and to be honest I was quite shocked at the price of wedding car hire when I started looking just not what i was expecting for as you say 2-3hrs - but then again it is a maserati so could be a good deal?!? personally we took this element out of our wedding...as in no wedding car hire at all because of the expense - the cheapest I was able to source for a Wedding car (all of which were vintage styles and the only style of car available really around our area) was €350 which we just thought was not worth the money for a period of 2-3hrs (and this didn't include the driver's expected tip on top!!!) and in reality, although yes I agree the hired wedding car is lovely for the photos (Well the two that make it into the photo album), it just not us - we are a young couple and prefer something more modern car wise and to put the money towards something else (not necessarily wedding related) - my BestMan gave me the idea to go to local audi dealership and hire top of the range model for the day (He did this for their wedding and got the car for something like €120 for the whole weekend) But then again it's all about what you and your H2B want and from my research car hire prices vary incredibly from one side of the country to the other so something expensive in the south may be considered a great deal over in the east of the country?

I was originally planning for my bridesmaid to drive me to the church in her own ordinary car. :driving She was quite happy with that too. But then our hotel said they would give us the use of their silver Rolls Royce for free. They started including it in the wedding package after we booked and offered it to us too. Delighted. Not sure if any other hotels do the same.

I've been getting loads of quotes today and most seem to be around the €300 mark or thereabouts. Just seems like crazy money. Could be that i'm just not into cars so out of all the aspects of wedding planning this is least interesting to me

I don't know what to do now!

Also I have heard of people hiring top end cars (mercedes or whatever) from Avis or other car hire places for their wedding. Could be something worth looking in to.

:happywave hi girls
i got this great book called "how to have a champage wedding on a bucks fizz budget"
in its chapter on wedding cars it says that car rental places (such as hertz) will allow you to hire out a what they call) platinum car (beemer, merc, jag etc) and will put the ribbons on it then u just need to arrange a driver. (grooms man perhaps) this is all supposed to be way cheaper than places who specialise in wedding cars. :speedy
i am definitely going to look into it. as for the BMs i have arranged a friend to collect them and my mum, groom is getting a lift with his grooms men as he will be there way too early ( :fingerscrossed ) for anyone to notice what he arrives in.

has anyone ever heard of hiring the cars from a rental place before for a wedding?

Hi everyone
I know i'm really late coming to this but I hope it helps someone. I was fed up getting quotes for €700+ for 2 wedding cars that I decided to call around a few taxi companies.

I found one that have Mercedes as their taxis and asked them to quote me for 2 of their fanciest and biggest Mercs :driving :driving .
I got a quote of €560 for 2 Black S Class Mercs, including ribbons on both, a bottle of champagne for us and it will also collect my H2B and groomsmen from his parents house in Dundrum, drop to the Church, then collect me & my BMs drop to the Church and then come with the other Merc and bring us all to Gorey for the reception.

Oh yeah they will also stop off for photos along the way. I'm delighted with myself. So I'd def recommend calling some taxi companies and see if you can get them any cheaper :yeah :yeah :yeah

It does seem like a lot we pay our drivers monthly and they wouldn't be getting money like this for a few hours work I think your being rinsed as it is for a wedding - tho i'm not sure as my family has used the same company of drivers for years and i'll use them for the wedding but will get something more special than what I usually travel in ...hopefully! it's up to my father.
