:iagree Most of the wedding planners I saw didn't have enough room for things. I've pulled alot of ideas out of wedding magazines and the wedding planners in shops wouldn't be able to fit them. I just bought a big poka dot folder, got dividers and clear covers. It has about 11 sections:

1. Paperwork/legal/registration etc.
2. Church
3. Reception
4. Bride
5. Groom/Groomsmen
6. Bridesmaids/Flowergirl
7. Flowers
8. Photography/Film
9. Honeymoon
10. Transport
11. Budget

I made a checklist for each section which I got on this website under the Planning Tools section. Anytime I make a purchase or deal with something I can tick it off the list. You can make your own checklist to suit you. I can also keep a record on what deposits I've paid and keep an eye on the budget.

The Bride's checklist was by far the longest!!!! :D

I bought myself a me to you wedding planner but havent used it much, just not enough room for all the stuff, mum got me this huge one, but again its more as a keepsake than practical, I have a folder where everything goes into it and its divided into different sections, I also have a seperate scrap book for pics that ive taken off the interent and out of magazines of dresses, flowers hair make up etc, so I dont have loads of pics lying around the folder and that way I dont loose them!

You could buy a wedding planner to get you started off on ideas on how to organise your folder, but I played around with my folder untill I got it they way I can follow it easily and makes sense to me!!

I bought one in Eason's (cost about €20) but to be honest I haven't used it much. I liked the idea of having one but I've ended up keeping all of my lists, budget, seating plans etc all on excel and then it means if I email or get quotes for things, i just update my spreadsheets :D

I got a lovely one in M&S for €13.50 - they also have lovely folders for storing bigger bits and pieces in!have to admit I haven't used my planner yet - have made all my lists in a wedding folder on the laptop - easier to copy and paste when I've found bits I like!! ;)

Thanks guys for all your help! MrsStokes2be i love the planner it looks fab ill have to have a look on ebay i think :cool

Its impossible to know where to start we re hoping to get married next September and have started on a list - which is causing major headaches at :banghead

Mrsmcd2be thanks a million for the checklist idea the folder sounds like a perfect idea with the different sections and easy to keep receipts deposits etc. At the moment doing things on spreadsheets is handy so at least i can print off and bring the info with me when viewing places/people otherwise I would forget what to ask or tell them :dizzy

Im not feeling as daunted by everything now I can ask all you guys :smitten

I bought a hardback notebook in tesco in January and it's done the job perfectly :)
I used the extra sticky bits from a book of stamps to mark certain pages

My sister (also my MOH) bought me a lovely planner with those Me to You bears on it. I've been filling it details and sticking stuff in but I think I'll mostly be keepign it as a keepsake. I have another notebook for scribbling down bits and pieces and a file as well
