thats a bit of a shame ... well you could get some family members too help pay for it or if you are heading off too a destination for pics you could set it up in a local pub half the price of the hotel or be cheeky and have it on arrival too hotel but have it outside of the hotel !!!! ( if u were too do that it would be cheeky out but aldi sell mulled wine for like €1.49 a bottle litre and a half all u need do is heat it in a caldron with star anaise and oranges)

tea/coffee and biscuits for the guests and champagne for bridal party. i thought it was expensive too and had to decline but its a shame cos it would have given a lovely festive feel - ah well not meant to be i guess :(

muckypup can you negotiate with them at all on the price? You could say that you have looked around and this is what it is costing others etc. You are having your wedding there, and they really are relying on you for good reputation etc especially these days. See if you can bargain them down at all.

Lovely idea by the way

4 per head isn't bad if that's all you were spending on the event but its not - would they kill the tea & coffee and the champagne and give it to you for 3 per person? It would knock 50 off - not a lot but it would help.

Edited for an afterthought - being only 8 days away doesn't leave you in the strongest bargaining position cause lets face it you can't change venue over mulled wine at this stage. If you are having the ceremony somewhere else, maybe you could do it outside there - if the weather stays the way it is it would be lovely, get a local barman on nixer to set-up and server!

2nd Editing - on second thoughts if you are getting married in a church - I doubt the priest would go for it but if its a civil ceremony you might be fine
