What would you do if....

Postby DubBride2012 » Thu Jan 26, 2012 10:42 am

What you ladies do if your venue has reduced their prices per head since you booked. For example you signed a contract at X amount per head, and now the hotel is selling the same package for a lot cheaper? Do you think the hotel would reduce your prices, even if you already paid a deposit? Now I am not certain if my hotel has actually done this, but I want to keep an eye on it in case they do.

What are the Misses opinions on this, and has anyone ever done this??

Really? Awh, thought hotels may budge a little. That's so frustrating that your friend got a better rate. Have you tried haggling already? I want to leave until closer to the date (September) to approach the hotel, as the rates may change again between now and then.

wedding co-ordinator is on hols at the moment, we are waiting for her to come back before we do anything. We already got 3 complimentry bedrooms off them and free bar extension + a few other things when we booked. I knw the manager (my brother works in the hotel) so got chair covers throw in (there in new package) also got €50 off the room decor as my bro helps the guy with room set up. Dont think we'll get much else but we'll give it a go ne way!

No harm in trying, I defintely am going to! Fingers crossed you get somewhere. There is a wedding fair in my hotel next month and I'm gonna drop by to see what the packages now are. Every little saving counts! I am also hoping they will come down on price with the guest rooms too, as their internet price is a lot cheaper. I have printed screen shots of the costs, so I can bring them with me, just to be prepared. Will be bringing along the booklets of packages I get at the fair next month too.

Cheeky monkey, did you accept their offer of rooms?

Same, they have blocked booked our rooms, so I can't book online at the cheaper price. I wouldnt mind, but they market the room prices as being a 'special rate' for wedding guests, and then tell me that I have to pay a premium to block book them! That makes no sense - wonder what they will say when I show them the screen shots???!!

Hi DubBride, I found out that my hotel was giving cheaper room rates to people that booked their wedding after ours even though we had signed the contract at the higher rate they still gave us the better rate. I would definetly ask them and see what they say.

We booked our wedding, signed contract last January with our hotel. In September they announced a new winter package, nearly €5 per head less, so I went down to discuss what was involved in the deal and my wedding co-ordinator gave me the new deal. However, when I went back to collect info package she wasn't there so I asked the manager, who tried to tell me that my date was exempt from the special rate. Needless to say I said nothing to him, and we still got our rate. So moral of that story is if one person says no try asking someone else! It's always worth asking, and make sure to ask for the fine print...what exactly are they giving in the reduced rate that you're not getting or are getting?

We booked our wedding last Spring and signed a contract. Our hotel actually EMAILED us with the details of the lower price packages and there is no problem with us getting the new lower rate!

Thanks you too! That is really encouraging! We have to pay a deposit and have a meeting at the 6 month to go mark, so I might raise it then and see what they say.
