When to send invites?

Postby gigglebiz » Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:32 am

When is everybody sending their invites? Our wedding is 12 weeks to the day and I've them all ready to go and all but is it too early to send? I have an RSVP date of Dec 9th cos I want to give people enough time with xmas and all that coming up (plus xmas post chaos). I was thinking around the week of 21st Nov and that gives them 3 weeks to RSVP but i'm excited now as they're all sitting at home ready to go. Also, did ye put stamps on the RSVP's?

:bluewave Send them out now :bounce :bounce It's so exciting when you do

On a more serious side I think the norm is usually 8/6 weeks - We are not getting married til March 2012 and bucked the norm by started sending them out in August (mostly the international guests invitations as B2B not from Ireland so wanted to give them plenty of notice - flights/accommodation) and got all our other invites out over the last couple of months :bounce - I know sounds mad and very early to some but to be honest we got great feedback on them and people like the fact that they had got loads of notice especially in the current economic climate!! - so as I said think 8/6weeks is considered to be the norm but as we found sending them out earlier than normally considered created a buzz and also love getting the trickle of RSVP's over the last number of weeks - our RSVP date isn't til late January so have being getting a couple each week :) - as with everything do what you are comfortable with and happy sending :bounce :bounce

Meant to add - No we didn't put stamps on the RSVP's just a self addressed label we got printed up - as a lot of our guests are overseas ranging from UK - Poland - Australia couldn't supply stamp anyway so just left them all without and to be honest I know it is a nice little touch but most wouldn't mind getting the stamp themselves.

We are new years eve and sent out the invites on October 10th, 11 weeks before the wedding, as we wanted to give people plenty notice being just after xmas and also to arrange child care on what would be one of the hardest nights of the year to get a sitter.
