I'm not sure what protocol is... do I wear my engagement ring on wedding day? or not? and if I do do I wear it on ring finger? Do I have to take it off to put on wedding ring??? Help me please!

Most brides wear it on their right hand and once the wedding ring is on and they are out the door you can put it back on the left. I can't wear mine on my right as I had an operation on my right ring finger last year and nothing fits on it anymore so my sister is going to wear my engagement ring for me and then give it to me after the ceremony.

Oh and I don't think there's any rules on this so if you have a better plan then go for it.

Yeah, I wore it on my right hand (ring finger) and then after the ceremony put it on top of my wedding band. It's nice to have the e-ring on in the morning for photos for a bit of bling!

Hey hun, I heard that you give it to your MOH to wear during the ceremony & then they give it back to you after the ceremony!! Has anyone heard of encorporating an eternity ring into the exchanging of the rings??

Just curious if anyone knows, is there a reason you can't wear it on your left hand and put your wedding ring on the same finger, as you'd wear them after the ceremony?? Do you have to wear the wedding ring on the inside for some reason? That's prob a really stupid question that everyone knows the reason for except me!
If there is a reason for this, i'm going to wear mine on my right hand, as it has a blue aquamarine stone as the centre stone so will be my something blue!

I wore mine on my right and put it on over the wedding ring then in the middle of the mass actually!! I think that the engagement ring normally goes over the wedding ring - I've a twist in my rings anyway so they were made to fit into one another, I couldn't have put the wedding ring on over the engagement ring if you get me.

I think you just leave your wedding ring finger clear for your wedding ring. It's like you're getting upgraded and you out the other ring aside until the upgrade has happened iykwim! There's no set rules but I've never seen someone have their e-ring on their wedding ring finger as the wedding ring is being put on the same finger during the mass.

As far as the whole, 'which way around do the rings go question', it doesn't matter, it's up to personal preference. I remember one of the missies saying they keep their wedding ring on the bottom so it's closest to their heart and I thought that was lovely so that's what I do. Having said that, a friend of mine does it the opposite way around.

As far as I know, you are meant to wear your wedding ring in closest to your heart.

I asked FMIL the same question a while back who said ettiquette was to wear the ring on the right hand for the ceremony as wedding band has to be on inside (closest to heart) and you pop it back on the left hand after the ceremony. She's a star when it comes to wedding ceremony related questions cos I havent a clue
