Where to buy an engagement ring

Postby excited2b » Tue Feb 02, 2010 10:41 am

Hi all,

Myself and my fiance are looking at different options on where to buy an engagement ring.

I've seen some really nice rings in Dublin and have got them to knock down the prices.

Does anyone know if there would be much of a difference in buying the ring in Antwerp or anywhere else?

We got our in the US. HUGE price difference! Definitely worth looking beyond Ireland and the UK if you want to save some serious pennies!

And also how much you are willing or trying to save. If you are only looking to save a few hundred then Dubai or US might be too far to go (unless you are going on holidays anyway) as by the time you have paid flights and accommodation you mightn't have saved anything. Whereas if you are looking to get a huge diamond and would be savings thousands then would be worth to travel.
I got mine in Dubai, was 1/3 of the price.

That's roughly the same sort of saving that we made too. And it's good to get a holiday and a ring, for the price of just a ring in Ireland :D

Myself and H2B were going to go to Antwerp to buy my ring.
Its a VERY hard place to get to (inter railing across Europe isn't my thing after watching "HOSTEL" :L
Its expensive to get there, so the money youd save on the ring, youd spend on travel and accommodation...

I got my ring in Newry, Co.Down for 400 euro cheaper than a similar ring of the same ct, clarity, cut and material as the one I got!!!

Unless your massive into the whole "buying Irish" thing , I suggest going up North!

Newry are doing it almost all the time in the smaller clothes shops... not the likes of Selfridge, or River Island...but the smaller ones will be. .... or it'll be 90p for Euro....
