Postby Fearga » Tue Jan 11, 2011 3:13 pm

Hi all future Mrs!!
I got engaged at Christmas and we are considering a winter wedding, am just wondering if any of you are planning one too? Or had a winter wedding?
I am worried about it being a large expense to frineds and family at an already expensive time.. :?
Just wondering your ideas etc for this kind of a wedding :happyxmas

hi, i too am new to the site, the girls are so helpful! im planning a november wedding. I understand you might be worried about incurring extra cost to your family but you have to do it when you have the money and time yourself. my h2b plays in a wedding band and he has one weekend off until december 2012!! and its our wedding weekend, so it was either a november wedding or waiting till 2013, er no thanks :nope
the earlier you let them know your plans, the better prepared they can be too.

i cant wait to start dress shopping either!!we are getting married in the radisson here, having a civil ceremony too. you would be suprised how many winter weddings they are booked for! its gorgeous here in sligo cos the hotel is overlooking rosses point bay, so hopefully it will be cold but clear to allow for some good pics! the main things i would do at the start is book your venue then depending if you are going religious or cilvil, you need to see the registry office about notice to marry, after that you can start on the other things!

i had a November wedding and i loved it. We had a perfect day - frosty but with a lovely blue sky (although it lashed that night).. When booked it we had to consider timing for the mass due to it getting darker earlier. We had ours at 1 and it was grand. Also alot of places might have reduced rates as its off season and not a summer month.. Also with November they still have weeks left to Christmas and if they had a summer holiday they have plenty of time to save..
