Help! I'm so lost. Costs for abroad?

Postby Snuffy » Mon Jan 10, 2011 3:30 pm

Hi ladies!
Could anyone advise me on the best way to try and get a rough idea of how much it would cost to get married abroad?
Whether we decide to stay here or go away, it's all going to come down to the money! I'm pretty confident on being able to work out a rough cost for here, but abroad is going to be more difficult. Would e-mailing wedding planners in the various countries be a way to go?
Thanks for any help!

I don't think you'll come out much cheaper by going abroad to be honest, unless you cut your numbers right down (which you can do at home). You end up doing a lot more for your guests like buses/open bar/meal the day before and it all adds up but you can't really expect them to go all the way out there and then just do the bare minimum for them. There are some great deals to be had in some hotels in Ireland at the moment.
If you're in a position where you can cut your numbers right down and stay in Ireland then that would be the cheapest option, places like the Clare Inn (and I'm sure many others, that's just one place I was in lately that had gorgeous food and the wedding was so good I looked up prices despite being all booked for abroad - was sickened when I saw the prices!) have fantastic all inclusive packages available.
Our wedding is in Borgo di Tragliata outside Rome in Italy. It's cheap considering what we're getting for our money, but compared to a one day wedding in Ireland it's expensive per head.

YA hun i really do think it depends n your numbers. If we were to get married we would be up in the 300. By goin away well have about 70-80. That is a massive savings. I couldnt 1 afford to do it here and 2 cut out people. Our familys are just too big. I wold upset to many people. We are having massive savings by goin away. Best decision we ever made.
