Malta/Current booking

Postby kk2011 » Mon Jun 14, 2010 7:40 pm

OK I'm seriously confused our local travel agent has an all in wedding package for 5,750 in Malta for 30 guests other than this I have no ideas until lunch tomorrow when I get down to them to find out more info. Is this good value? We have just booked our church, hotel and photographer and paid very little deposits so far (less than €1000) and at the moment everything just seems to be falling apart my mother is being insufferable and h2b's dad is seriously ill (which we just discovered). As such were thinking about just eloping and in a way getting it over with but still having a beautiful wedding day with friends and family. Just wondering what other people think is it just me being all caught up in the hype and stressed over things or is it a genuinely interesting idea. BTW h2b is really excited about the thought of getting married abroad? He's always suggesting going to Gretna Green!!!!

Sorry hun, bit confused - are the deposits you've paid for things in Ireland, and now you're reconsidering and thinking of going to Malta?

Otherwise... well, I suppose you're still in the early days of planning, so if you'd be happier with a wedding abroad (and it sounds like both you and h2b might be) then if you're ok financially to take the hit of losing your deposits (potentially)... I'd say go for it. You can always have a small wedding abroad and then come back and have a massive party here! That's what h2b and I are doing. :cool

Also, I'm sorry to hear about your h2b's dad... hope things improve for him.

Sorry kefjo work has been mental lately :(

Deposits r paid for here its not too bad to loose them got good news about h2b's dad so its good for now phew!!

When we spoke to the travel agent in Kilkenny who do all the weddings in Malta they told us that it would take a minimum of 6 months to plan if we want a church wedding and 4 if we go for a civil ceremony and if everything goes wrong that would be too long. So if needs be well go to Gretna Green!!! Doing our accord course on Saturday anyway now so just going to keep going with having the wedding here.

I am hoping to take my wedding abroad and would be really interested in getting in touch with that travel agent, could you give me the info?
Hope your dad in law is doing better...

Hi MrsGabe2be,

Future Dad in-law is being faffed around by his surgeon at the moment ugghhh!!! So frustrating but it looks like he's going to be O.K thanks for asking!

The travel agent was Manning Travel they're on High Street just beside the Bookcentre/Penny Feather Cafe. The girls in there are really nice and so helpful. A friends brother booked his wedding in Malta with them and got on brilliantly anyone I've spoken to recommends them very highly and I've never heard a bad word about them! Definitely check them out and I know they do other destinations other than Malta too. Best of luck with the planning and hope you get sorted!
