Torn between Hisperia and Costa Colero!!

Postby wuzzles » Wed Jun 22, 2011 5:54 pm

We are hoping to have our wedding in Lanzarote Sept. 2012 but are so torn between these two venues! Both are strong contenders with different plus points to them. Costa Colero has a more Irishy menu, you can stay on later and there are options for finger buffet/chocolate fountain etc, (but as a con such a late night also brings up the price) have also spoken with a couple that got married there a few years ago and they gave rave reviews.
The Hisperia looks amazing, has its own private beach for the photo's but you would have to finish up music etc around twelve / half twelve which I cant decide is a pro or a con as people will probably be tired/well on their way to being drunk etc at that stage, at least they can go back to their hotels happy they have seen the whole night out and there is an nightclub in the hotel for whoever else wants to carry on the party :happyfriday
Utterly torn so any help/opinions from anyone who has gotten married at these venues or have been over to view them as an option would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Lala, I know it's so Exciting!!! I couldnt wait to start gathering information and emailing all the planners!
We are going with Lanzarote weddings who have been fab, emailed Ann and she never got back to us and have gotten mixed reviews about, some people rave about how great she is and then others I have heard said them same kind of thing like she never got back to them etc. I have been dealing with Peta from Lanzarote Weddings and she has been brilliant. She has sent me loads of info and Id say within of hour of emailing her she had rang me and gone through loads of details and considering no money has enchanged hands yet I though that was great! I also spoke to a couple that had their wedding with them in the Costa Colero and said they were fantastic planners and spent all day making sure everything was perfect so I knew Id made the right choice then. I was the same as yourself emailing at first and then I went partly with gut feeling on who I clicked with the most and partly on the info they provided, details and how quickly etc. Im swaying at the moment toward the Hesperia as that beach is to die for!!

Sent you a PM! I dont think 2013 is too far away to plan, it's all the excitement of planning is half the fun! We were going to go for June 2013 but we have been together 12 years so Id say all the parents friends and family are sick of waiting for a day out! They only release the Church dates the September of each year for the coming year so thats the only downside! Im itching to get invites and all out (I know mental, just cant help it Im so excited!) but will have to wait until I get Church and date confirmed this Sept. for Sept 2012 for more specific invites so Im just roughly letting people know so they can save.

I was at my sisters wedding in the Hesperia recently. Absolutey amazing. They had a wedding planner who organised the whole thing. She got married on the private beach, it was like a dream. Food was a buffet and all the irish were raving about how good it was. They got a band from Charlies pub in lanzarote, their called skin and Hide. They played til the eary hours of the morning. I will get you details if you want?

My brother is getting married in the Hesperia next May. They ahggled with the hotel and they got the disco underneath the function room till 3am. So the band will set up there and everyone will move down after the meal i think. They also are having skin and hide from Charlies bar.
Best of luck picking, both are fab so im sure either way you will be happy :cool

so amazing! these places are full of romantic and fantastic, i do think it would be the perfect wedding at either of them. is it necessary to find a wedding planner?

Hi everyone,
I'm getting married in the Hisperia in 5 weeks time.. can't wait. Will tell you exactly what i think of the hotel afterwards! We are using Lanzarote weddings also. Peta is the person you talk to and get all the info from but once you confirm you will be using them as your weddng planners and pay a deposit then its Vicky you deal with for organising your day.
It costs €1600 for the wedding planner fee so make sure you use them to get exactly what you want from the day!! They are great for replying straight away to emails etc.
As for do you really need a planner... I think you could get away without one if you really wanted amnd I'm sure people who have already gotten married over there could help recommend people to use but a planner really oes help take the stress off you, you just tell them what you want and they sort it!

Look forward to your wedding report excitedbride2be!!!I reckon having a planner will pay for itself in reducing stress levels alone, plus you would probably have to fly over at least once if not twice to sort suppliers etc. if you were doing it yourself and between flights and accomodation you might aswell pay a planner and save yourself the hassle! We dont intend on flying over at all beforehand as want to keep everything shiny and new for when we go there for our wedding so it will be super exciting!
