Wedding in France? Am I the only B2B interested ...

Postby Bellerina » Fri Jan 15, 2010 2:37 am

Hi All,
I was just wondering if I am the only B2B interested in getting married in France as most forums seem to be on Italy or Portugal??
France is my number one at the moment although it is v.expensive! I have thought about Portugal but haven't really done much research as have fallen in love with a Fab Chateau in the South of France....

Hi
I'm from France and I know there are few couples who go to France because of civil ceremony.
But it's true there are so many beautiful places !!

If you need help, tell me ! ;)

We looked into to it too. We had wanted to go to Paris or somewhere not too far from there-The Irish College in Paris. However when we looked into it there seemed to be a residency rule of a month before you marry. What we didn't think of at the time was to have a civil cermony here before and then get a blessing over there. Best of luck with the planning-let us know how you get on!!

Not necessarily...
With about 15000€ you can organize a wedding in a beautiful castle near Paris for exemple.

I am getting married in a Chateau near Paris and it is costing me 150 Euro per head for the meal only. I believe it is easy to find cheaper than that elsewhere, isn't it?

:happywave We have now made arrangements to see the Chateau in May in South West of France so hopefully all goes well... :bounce :bounce :bounce
They have given us an approx price which covers 70 guests for 3 course meal, 2.5 hour wine bar and Champagne toast, price also includes wedding planner fee and event mgmt fees so I do not think it is too bad now considering I have seen other places more expensive in France... We've settled on Sept 2011approx 1st or 2nd week as long as it is still available

Princess your paying 150 per head so does this cover any drinks or fees etc? Your place looks fab so have you been over to visit it?

Hi Lucky

For 155 Euro, it includes
- open bar and nibbles for 90 minutes
- 5 course meal, wedding cake, and wine through the meal
- Soft drinks until 3 a.m.
- DJ and 10 bedrooms complimentary

For 5 Euro extra per head, they put centerpieces on the tables but I have decided to look after this myself. Basically, it seems your Chateau is pricier, so it must be fantastic!!!!!

I have picked this place because the whole floor with be ours, that means 2 small adjacents rooms for the toodlers (so that the guests don't have to go up and down the stairs to check in the bedrooms); the other one will probably the cloakroom, private bathrooms and sole access to the park and pool. Although we have booked most of the rooms, I doubt there will be anyone but our guests.

Hi Princess - How many are you having at your reception?

I still think we both didn't do too bad as I have checked with other places and just to hire their Chateau it was 6k for the weekend!!!! And at the end of the day we both like our venues or otherwise we would not have picked France eh...

so when is your big day - you all excited? :bounce

Also included in my price we get the full use of the Chateau on private hire for the entire weekend which consists of 8 bedrooms which is not too bad and will hold the family!.... The planner also mailed me back today to advise that I can have the open bar for 2 hours during the day ceremony which we plan to hold in the gardens and then 2.5 hours in the evening so I can't really complain with that... Also the additional accomadation for the remaining guests is just outside the grounds, 5 min walk so everyone can be close

Our price does not include any DJ or nibbles which we shall need to get if my guests are having a 2 hour free bar now during the day - don't want them asleep or drunk now before the meal  So that will be expensive too as they have provided the price of the DJ they use and to say the least it ismore expensive than here at home!!

I honestly don't care though as I really adore the place - it's fab - so as long as it lives up to my expectations when we get over there it should be okay :) :)
