I wouldn't argue with that - we were totally impressed with Vila Vita Parc as well. It's beautiful. But was out our our price range unfortunately.

Sounds like you're pretty organised smiley face! I think we're doing ok too. We have our music, caterer (although have to finalise menus), accomodation, cake, wedding dress ordered, invites gone out, day after organised. We've got to sort out some details like decorations at the venue but I think we're on track. I dont have BM's dress sorted out yet though - need to get on with that!

Re the car, that's what we have thought of doing - hire a nice car for the week and just use that on the day. Have you looked around at prices for that yet would you mind me asking? Think I might take a look through a few car rental sites this weekend.

Hey mrsOtobe.. I bet you've chosen a very nice venue anyway. There are such nice hotels in the Algarve. If my dad didn't pay for Vila Vita Parc I would go to Grande Real Santa Eulália... Really modern... Can I ask which one you chose?

I think we're getting there! Looking at music now, can I ask you what you are doing for both the ceremony and reception, who have you booked? Did you find them expensive? We have a friend who will sing in the church but I feel we're being quoted crazy prices for a musician to accompany her :yikes2 . The dj price is fine and cocktails not great but we might just haggle on that and see what we can do!

Re hire car prices - haven't looked at that yet if I'm honest, will let you know how I'm getting on as soon as I get that far. Saw this website http://www.vipchauffeurs-algarve.com/ and wondered would they be worth a shout though, when I get music and photos sorted, that's next!!

Hi Smiley face we've booked everything through algarvemusicagency. Steph is an absolute pet. i'm going with church singers, saxophone, dc party band and DJ. the prices they quote are very reasonable and the acts are great.

Thanks for that! I never got round to looking at cars over the weekend in the end so I'll look at that website.

Re music, we're booked through Algarve Entertainment Solutions. http://entertainmentsolutionsalgarve.com/ Think I put something up about them here before. I was saying that I dont think their website does them justice. We've found them really good to deal with and I've actually ended up bouncing all sorts of queries off Tamsyn, like non-music related stuff!! Been a bit cheeky but she's been so friendly and doesn't mind just giving pointers on other stuff. I had a problem with our original videpgrapher (a German guy) and she was even helping me with train information from the Algarve to Frankfurt. Very not music related! So anyway, Ive found them great.

We've booked two days worth of music through them and also picked some of the more expensive options like a string quartet and also a four piece band for the wedding reception (singer, two guitarists, drummer). So basically we were able to work out an overall deal for the lot with them. For the church we are having a singer and guitarist - I think the normal price for that is around €250, so I suppose if you are only looking for one musician you should expect to pay half of that. What have you been quoted?

We got a great price on a DJ and karaoke for the next day from them. I think the DJs are gnerally a good bit cheaper anyway. When you say the DJ price is fine and cocktails not great, do you mean the band Double Cocktail? Or something else?

Yes indeedy! Its all go!! :crazy

Got our invites sorted thank god, they will go out next week. I sent everyone an info page out last week with info on accomodation etc which is want they all really wanted so they are all mulling over that and deciding whether they can come or not.

Although numbers are rising all the time, more people coming that I thought would!

We have found that too! We sent out 125 invites and there's 100 coming. Thank god we didn't send out anymore! The families wanted us to send out a lot more. The venue only holds a maximum of 100 seated for dinner. Which was good as I didn't want more than 100 anyway, so it was nice to have a physical barrier limit on it when people were pushing for the world and his wife to be invited!

But we're amazed at how many people are coming. Especially with how most people's finances are at the moment. I suppose everyone loves a bit of sun though :D

True! I can't wait for some sun 8-)

Do you mean that you sent 125 invites x 2 people and 100 people are coming? I'd originally estimated 70 people but now its looking like over 90 (yeep!). But I think until people actually book the flights its still a bit up in the air, pardon the pun  .

I think for invites we're inviting about 130/140 people but I know certain people just won't be able to come for money/health/kids reasons, but still have to invite them.

Hi, I just joined this site and we are completely blank about where to get married abroad.
Is Portugal expensive and what about Spain or Italy? we have about 80 guests I reckon if all of them will show up, would be in for a beach wedding if possible. any ideas can any of you recommend a wedding planner? thanks :nopity
