Wedding Locations Portugal

If you're NOT tying the knot in Ireland, post all about it here. Greece, Spain, Italy, France.... any foreign destination.

Do you mean that you sent 125 invites x 2 people and 100 people are coming? I'd originally estimated 70 people but now its looking like over 90 (yeep!). But I think until people actually book the flights its still a bit up in the air, pardon the pun  .

I think for invites we're inviting about 130/140 people but I know certain people just won't be able to come for money/health/kids reasons, but still have to invite them.

No we sent out probably 60 or 70 invites covering a total of 125 people. The guest list was 125 people anyway. And about 100 of those 125 are coming. We had 125 on the guest list thinking that maybe a maximum of 70 or so would go due to money issues mainly.

Is Portugal expensive and what about Spain or Italy? we have about 80 guests I reckon if all of them will show up, would be in for a beach wedding if possible. any ideas can any of you recommend a wedding planner? thanks :nopity

Hi Charlie7, I think all the countries have their cheaper and more expensive options so it just depends on which appeals to you most I guess. We personally found Italy a bit expensive when we looked into but to be honest I can't say that I explored too many Italian options before moving onto Portugal, so I'm sure there are lots of good cheaper options in Italy, a few of the girls on here are looking at Italy and have posted info about some fab looking locations.

hi Mrsotobe, Just started really and already addicted. looking into several options before I feel to be able to make up my mind. Did you go and visit the venues you've picked? We would like to plan and have a visit in the first week of april when we both have some days off.

What venues can you recommend for Portugal? I was on another website that seems to be popular for abroad weddings where they talk about Rome, Spain and Algarve.

Yes we visited a few places first. I wrote a fairly long post atthe beginning of this thread about some places I looked at in Portugal so you could take a look at that.

Hi girls,

Happy to be able to post again, as I received some difficulties yesterday. :mrs2benut
you all sound so organised as I still have so much to do. All I have sorted is the ceremony, photographer and music really and I’m working my way through the menu choices at the mo. It’s really difficult as some of our guests are vegetarian and there isn’t so much to choose from and h2b isn’t really into to this. I told him last night we’re getting married with the two us but he still feels it’s not something he should be involved in grrrrrr

He was very into choosing the music and stuff so I bet I can’t complain hey?
I see you mentioned double cocktail mrsotobe we are delighted having been able to book them for our ceremony and party. They are not expensive at all!! € 250 for church and € 900 for the band.
I’m surprised really as I’m sure they could have raised their price after winning the Irish Wedding award last week but they didn’t. What are you paying for the 4 piece?

For cocktail and dinner music steph from Algarve music Agency booked me a saxophonist and gave me a combination price for it. So we feel they really handle good prices.

Something else girls that you might would be able to help me with ? did any of you book a videographer and what were you quoted ? thanks a mill

Hi I'm doing a bit of research on the web into what papers we need for getting married abroad?
Does anybody know if we can have our civil/legal part of the wedding ceremony done in portugal or does it have to be done at home before you go over? thanks c.

Hi flowerbride,
I am thinking of getting married in Italy or Portugal 2011 and will do the legal stuff here and a blessing over there. You ring the registry office and book a date then you are given a date for a meeting with the Registrar at least 3 months before the day you wish to marry. Then when you go abroad you don't need to worry about any paperwork. Good luck with it x!
