Wedding Venues in Italy?

Postby MrsG2B » Tue Sep 14, 2010 10:12 am

Hi we are looking to get wedded next september in Italy - thinking Rome or Tuscany. Anyone got any good venues for approx. 80 people? and how much they cost (approx). The most important thing is that its on a fairly direct flight route from dublin (rome is winning there!). Oh and its a civil wedding too ( I know..who goes to rome for a civil wedding?). V excited but want to get the venue sorted! Any ideas?

Hi MrsG2B,
My man is Italian, from Rome, so I know a bit about the possible venues. First off you can't have the ceremony and reception in the same place (like hotel) with as much ease as here. There is the casle in Bracciano that Tom Cruise used, but it is really expensive. There is another one outside Rome, but I can't for the life of me find the link anymore. Check out this webside www.italiandestinationweddings.com
Its really helpfull, divides the sections by location, so you can compare Tuscany to Rome, and there are wedding packages also. In Rome there is a really sweet deconsecrated church where you can have the civil service (http://www.italiandestinationweddings.c ... _hall.html)
The site offers to organise it all, but depending on your budget and time, and your ability to read/speak Italian you could probably organise it yourself.
The other option is to have the civil ceremony done here, and then have a symbolic ceremony in Rome, which gives you so much more choice (the symbolic ceremony can be done in resteraunts' gardens, castles, villas etc) and the website has a lot of information on places that would be willing to do that for you.
There is a charming castle in Ostia Antica, on the coast outside of Rome, but I'm not sure if it is civil or religious or symbolic, but they have accomodation in the grounds of the castle and there is a really lovely resteraunt 5 mins walk from the castle which I'm sure would accomodate the wedding, and the food is divine!
If you want to pm me I could probably help some more...

I'm getting married in Borgo di Tragliata, it's just outside Rome, about 30-40 mins from both airports. Not sure if it's what you would like because maybe you'd prefer to be in the thick of Rome centre, but it is very beautiful and romantic and could cater for and accomodate your numbers. I'm having a church wedding there, but as far as I know they also cater for civil weddings. Worth sending an email to anyway and asking, they're lovely to deal with, very helpful, and English speaking. Website is www.tragliata.it
