5 Honeymoon Destinations To Consider

By  |

So, you’ve starting the wedding planning and of course a big part will be that once in a lifetime dream honeymoon. The guys at Island Escapes have given us their top 5 recommendations for the hottest honeymoon destinations for 2015.

Number 1 – Maldives

Kandolhu 1217

A picture postcard destination of over 1,100 islands set in the Indian Ocean that has attracted the rich and famous such as Kate Middleton and Prince William and footballer Christiano Ronaldo to mention just a few.

Some of the resorts can cost in excess of $10,000 a night, but the team at Island Escapes have hand-picked some of the best value resorts that won’t break the bank.

A ) 4*+ Kuramathi Island – Unlike most All Inclusive resorts in Maldives, on Kuramathi you have an option to dine in any of the 7 a la carte restaurants on the island. It’s over a mile long and the best choice for those who want some evening entertainment in Maldives.

B ) Kandolhu Island – Regarded as the Maldives “Best Kept Secret”, this is a true gem in the Indian Ocean. Recently re-opened after a $12m revamp, this exclusive resort has just 30 rooms in 5 categories and a choice of 4 restaurants. The “Ultimate” All Inclusive package means you don’t have to dip into your pocket and over 30 wines included. Each Villa also has it’s own wine cooler! With prices from €2,995 per person this is undoubtedly the best value Luxury Resort in Maldives.

Maldives can be easily combined as part of a twin-centre with Dubai or Sri Lanka.

Number 2 – Pemba Island

Pemba Island lies just off the East Coast of Tanzania. The island is less populated than it’s neighbour, Zanzibar and offers a more authentic Robinson Crusoe experience. Don’t expect “ultra luxury”, you be on a 4×4 dirt track to this “rustic chic” lodge. To top off the experience you have the chance to stay in the lodges “under water” room. This is a truly unique experience and can be weather dependent. Pemba is almost a year round destination, with April and Early May being really the only wet months. This is the perfect combination with a Safari in Tanzania.

Number 3 – Aruba

The most southerly of the Caribbean Islands, this former Dutch colony offers probably the best beaches in the Caribbean as well as being off the Hurricane belt – offering year round sunshine. The quaint capital of Oranjestaad has kept it’s character with typical Dutch architecture. The perfect choice is the brand new Riu Palace Antilles, an adults only resort on Aruba’s Palm Beach.

Number 4 – Huatulco Mexico

Tired of the hustle and bustle of Cancun and looking for somewhere different, how about this lesser known part of Mexico. Pronounced Waa-tool-co it is located on the south west pacific coast of Mexico close to Guatamala. The area comprises of about 15 bays or inlets with resorts built into the hills. Secrets Huatulco is the pick of the bunch, a 5 start adults only all inclusive resort.

The only negative is, it will take 3 flights to get to, so best combine with a stopover in the U.S such as New York.

Number 5 – Mozambique

Azura Benguerra is the perfect choice for those looking for peace and exclusivity. Located on the West coast of Benguerra Island, Azura has just 17 Villa all with their own plunge pools. Benguerra has some of the most stunning beaches and no doubt a seafood-lovers paradise. It comes at a price, and you don’t get much change out of €5k per person for a week.
