Like it or Loathe it? Coloured Wedding Dress

Vera Wang Black Wedding Dresses

Vera Wang recently introduced a new range of black wedding dresses.

They’re certainly a departure from the traditional white, crystal white, diamond white, ivory, champagne, silver… you name it… that most brides tend to go for!

But wedding dresses come in all the colours of the rainbow.  Check out these photos!

Oh I adore the black dresses, but definitely not as my wedding dress. I’m a traditional gal so I’ll stick with a more subtle colour for my dress.

  2. I’m afraid I’m on the side of loathing. The way I look at it, if you were a passer-by and you saw a group of people dressed up, would you honestly know it was a wedding party from the lack of a white dress, and would you be able to pick out which one was the bride if she was in a green dress? Yes, they’re poofier dresses, but I think they just look like big debs dresses.

    Although, to each her own.

Oh gosh no! I have to say I agree with Hydrangea Girl. How would you tell who was the bride?! The black ones look a bit goth, gorgeous but not as a wedding dress. I actually like deep red dresses, but I really don’t think I could choose one myself. But each to their own.

I hate the black! The only ones I would deem as slightly acceptable are the purple one and red one. The others are all horrid! But I personally would never wear anything other than white/ivory as a bride!

  5. Jenny says:

I don’t know if I’d go for black, but I definitely considered going for a colour, or adding colour to the dress in some way. In the end I got a tea-length dress so will wear really fab bright shoes and colour in my hair too.

Ooh a tea length coloured dress sounds fab! And you’d probably be able to wear it again.

They wouldn’t be my choice as I love the classic off white / ivory, and I’d be afraid I’d be lost among the other guests!

I’ve seen a few coloured dresses (reds and browns) in the shops, but not black. I really can’t see it becoming popular but Vera Wang are trend setters, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

dear god no!!dont like them at all!

  9. Lily says:

I have my wedding dress bought and it’s ivory and purple. I liked the quirk of mixing colour with the traditional, so just going against the grain slightly. I’m glad I had the option as none of the all white/ivory dresses did it for me. It’s good to have colour. I wouldn’t have an all colour dress like the ones above though.

Lily, purple and ivory are lovely together.
