Like many of our recent couples, Emma and Donal who are originally from Ireland recently relocated to Australia but made the journey home to tie the knot after getting engaged in New Zealand. Thanks to Kildare based photographer, Aidan Beatty for sharing their pretty wedding with us.

“Donal and I had know each other for many years through friends before we started dating. When he left Ireland to further his education I followed shortly after. We made our first home together and the rest is history,’’ said Emma.

Groom, Donal planned a day trip to a secluded island just off New Zealand in November 2013. “He proposed on a secluded beach, it was a wonderful day!” added Emma.

Shortly after their engagement Emma and Donal decided they would like to have a humanist ceremony held within a hotel.

“It was something different and neither one of us had been to this type of ceremony before. But following a bit of research into what was involved, we knew this was the type of wedding ceremony we both wished for. We quickly got in contact with our Celebrant Joe to book a date, as there were not very many Celebrants in Ireland at the time and they book out very quickly!” explained Emma.

With their Celebrant booked they next chose Summerhill House Hotel in Enniskerry for the event. With 100 guests the hotel was the perfect size for them, not too big and not too small and location wise was close enough to Dublin for guests to travel home if they didn’t wish to stay over night.

“The gardens were in full bloom and it was private, as they only host one wedding a day. One thing that was very important to us was the food and wine and we were not disappointed. The staff were fantastic. As we were living in Australia we had to organise our wedding through email, this was never a problem. Aidan the manager and Emma the Deputy manager were always very quick to respond to our emails. It made the whole process a lot easier and less stressful. The staff were always there to answer any questions we had. We wanted our day to be stress free and relaxing and the staff certainly made sure this was the case. Once we had our Celebrant and venue booked, the finer details of the day were arranged,” added Emma.

Emma wore a beautiful bateau neckline slim fitting gown with shoulder and belt embellishment. Her bridesmaids wore soft blush gowns which worked perfectly with Emma’s elegant bridal gown and lush peony bouquet. Donal kept his suit choice modern in a navy two piece with silver tie, whilst his groomsmen wore pale grey suits and blush ties.

“Our day was one we both really enjoyed. The highlight for us was being able to share our special day with our friends and family. The whole day was perfect from start to finish. Our day was captured beautifully by Aidan. We are both a bit camera shy but he really made us feel at easy for the whole day. He went above and beyond to ensure nothing was missed on the day,” said Emma.
