Intimate Irish Elopement In Church Ruins By Johnny Corcoran

By  |

We get very excited by seeing international couples come to Ireland to elope. Their special days are sure to be intimate, relaxed and bathed in Irish beauty of the location they have chosen, usually by the beach, on a clifftop or as in today’s elopement, in old church ruins.

Julia and Donovan travelled from Pennsylvania, USA to Ireland in May of this year to elope. Their ceremony was conducted by Celebrant, Yvonne Cassidy in the atmospheric surroundings of Loughcrew Lodge. We’re delighted to share the photos by Meath based photographer, Johnny Corcoran. This is how to elope in Ireland…

Julia, a physical therapist assistant first met tattoo artist, Donovan when he did her first tattoo!

Four years ago Donovan proposed in a very intimate and low-key way. “We were at home and while I was playing with our dog, Donovan asked me to turn around. He was behind me with the ring out and asked me to be his wife,” explained Julia.

“Eloping was always on my cards, whilst Donovan wanted to do a traditional wedding. After a long debate we decided we wanted to keep the ceremony intimate and about us. So we turned the vacation we were planning into our elopement and honeymoon in Ireland,” said Julia.

Julia’s Highlight

“The whole thing was honestly the highlight. I never thought that after being engaged for 4 years we would be eloping in an entirely different country.”

Donovan’s Highlight

“It’s hard to pick a highlight, the entire day was amazing. If I had to choose I would say the photos we took after the ceremony were really fun. We took some amazing pictures in the pouring rain.”

Advice

“Definitely try to use a wedding planner! Our planner made our elopement everything we wanted it to be. Give yourself time to plan it and prepare.”
