Pet Friendly Wedding Tips

Some might think it crazy, but for others, being without their pets on their special day is something they can’t imagine . Horses for courses we say, so if you’re considering it, here’s a few tips, as well as a sneak peak at how one bride added a touch of doggy cuteness to her day.

  1. If you are going the whole hog and giving your precious pooch a leading role at your celebration, make sure your venue is pet friendly.  Not only that, you need to make sure there is an area for them to escape to if all that partying gets too much, or alternatively, that you can arrange a taxi home for them.
  2. Remember, it’s your wedding day! Realistically you won’t be able to give your full attention to your pet all day, so have a designated person on hand to look after your pet. Oh, and we strongly suggest that you inform the lucky person of their role before the wedding day!
  3. Pack a bag of essentials for your designated pet lover to keep on standby. Make sure it includes food, water treats and poop bags.
  4. Remember not everyone is a pet lover like you. Children especially can be afraid or wary of dogs. If you have a large number of kids going to your wedding and your pooch isn’t well trained around children, it may be a good idea to leave them at home. Sorry!
  5. Now that you’re ready to go, have some fun and make sure your little four legged friend is dressed for the occasion! Take a look at some of our ideas below:

Pam & Mike share their love story:

35“Muffin was a gift for my 25th birthday, three years ago and he quickly became a major part of our family. When Mike and I got engaged we planned on sending personalised save the date cards to all our close family and friends. Muffin is such a character we had to include him in our photographs! On our wedding day we may pop Muffin in a doggie tux for one or two pictures.”
