Our New Blogging Bride – Miss Sunshine!

By  |

We have a brand new real bride’s diary for you to follow! Recently engaged, and a forum regular,  Miss Sunshine is from a small village in Scotland and moved to Ireland 2 years ago. She now lives in Dublin with her fiancé and their dog.

They’ve decided to get married in Ireland, but I’m sure we’ll see plenty of Scottish influence in her wedding. She’s 25 (h2b is 33) and they’ve set their date for Summer 2014, so that means we’ve plenty of time to hear all about her plans!

Miss Sunshine's blog

Hi everyone!! A very excited misssunshine000 here (some of you may know me from the wedding forums I have become somewhat addicted to my daily fix of mrs2be postings!!). I am thrilled to be writing here which will hopefully be the start of my story of wedding planning adventures!

For those of you who don’t know me, I am a very excited, recently engaged missie, with a date set for June 2014.  It seems like an eternity away, yet I’m sure I’ll be glad of having so much time when it comes down to the nitty gritty side of the planning.

So down to the juicy stuff… 😉  I met my future hubby (who I will refer to as mrsunshine I’m sure he’ll be delighted with his new alias!!) at a friend’s party, having just moved over to Ireland from Scotland.  I certainly wasn’t looking for anyone special at the time but his Irish charm must have worked as we swapped numbers and the following weekend I was meeting up with him for our first date!  To say he played a blinder is an understatement.  After a trip to the zoo (very cute!), a walk around Temple Bar, to show me the sights and then on for dinner and drinks (very romantic) he had me hook, line and sinker!

The Proposal

Fast forward to what I’m sure you all want to know… the proposal!  Well I hate to disappoint but there is no big, romantic gesture like some of you lucky ladies got.  But for me it was perfect.  It was understated, romantic and intimate just the way I would have imagine him doing it.  He even managed to catch me totally off guard (something that can be hard to do as I hate surprises) by doing it on his own birthday!  There was no ring, but instead a booking made at a jewellers for me to pick my own.

Getting to choose from hundreds of gorgeous diamond rings, could this get any better??!!  We enjoyed keeping our special news to ourselves that night before we broke the news to our families the next day.  That’s when the sheer excitement took over from the shock!  It’s hard not to get excited when you have both families around you screaming.

Miss Sunshine's RingAnd then it was time for shopping!  We spent a lovely afternoon at the fantastic John Brereton Jewellers in Dublin (johnbreretonjewellers.ie) where after trying on what seemed like hundreds of rings I found the one that I loved.  Simple, classic and beautiful.  When I tried it on, it fit like a glove no alterations needed.  This was the ring for me!

And so that’s where my fairy-tale is at now.  Being a total romantic and proper girlie-girl, I am loving anything wedding related and can’t get enough of planning for my special day.  I hope you are all enjoying this journey as much as I am, and can’t wait to share my experiences with you!

Hello Miss Sunshine – congrats to you and that ‘old romantic of an Irish man of yours !!!
You have lots of time to plan – and it would be fun to follow the story as it unfolds.
Not sure of your taste and likes – but – I would love to design wedding cuffs for you as a gift – only if they were something you would like of course- hope this is OK to ask on a blog??
I would get a kick out of designing with you cuffs to include – antique / vintage lace or modern. I understand if this is not to your taste – or not allowed. I am a bit new to this – don’t want to offend.
