Irene and JD held their wedding on Friday the 13th in stunning Santa Maria dello Spasimo in Palermo, an unfinished church dating back to 1509.

Irene wore a red velvet dress with boots and viking inspired hair. She had a handmade bird skull bouquet and handmade jewellery both created by her friends, Leah made the bouquet and Hazel K Deigns made her jewellery.

The couples friends and family flew in from all over the world to help make their day special, from decorating the venue to driving visitors around the city, it really was a unique day.

“Irene and JD’s wedding bands are made from Damascus steel and were crafted by a sword smith. The wedding ceremony was followed by a traditional Sicilian lunch in Valle Himara in the hills surrounding Palermo, this area is where the cannoli orginates and it’s tradition to end the wedding meal with these delicious treats. This was such an original wedding and their friends and family all came together to help make it truly special,” explained photographer Emma.

“After the ceremony we took some photos in a nearby park that has some of the biggest trees in Europe, and from there to the reception in Villa Hymara in the mountains surrounding Palermo. There we enjoyed a traditional eight course Sicilian lunch (yeah seriously eight courses) culminating with the most deliciously huge cannoli which come from the area. There was also a guest appearance from the house cat appropriately named Bruschetta!” added Emma.
