We’ve all heard of minimoons, right? Well, on the opposite end of the scale, we’ve been told by those in the know that this year the maximoon will take over. A maximoon is basically a multi-stop honeymoon where couples can take in completely different experiences, such as a safari and the beach during the one trip. We spoke to Andre at who shared the top three maximoon destinations that are on newlyweds’ wish list.

South Africa & Mauritius

The thrill and adventure of a private Game Reserve followed by chilling on an endless Indian Ocean beach, what’s not to love?! This twin centre maximoon includes four nights at the Kapama Southern Camp, Safari activities and five nights all inclusive in the breathtaking Shandrani Resort.

The Kapama Reserve is part of the northern Drakensberg mountains and the Greater Kruger National Park, and is set in South Africa’s northernmost province of Limpopo. Your game ranger will meet you at the airport and a short transfer takes you to Kapama Southern Lodge, your home for the next four nights. The Kruger area is synonymous with the “Big Five” (Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Rhinos and Leopards) and offers some of the best game viewing in Africa.

Shandrani Resort & Spa

After your five days of adventure it’s on to Mauritius for lots of luxury! Located in the unspoiled region of Mauritius, the Shandrani is the first choice when it comes to luxury all-inclusive holidays in Mauritius. Set on a private peninsula lapped by the Blue Bay Marine Park rich in sea life, Shandrani has three different beaches to discover. A short boat ride inshore takes you to the famous Iles aux Aigrettes nature reserve. Shandrani Resort & Spa is a five-star all-inclusive resort in Mauritius thanks to its concept “Serenity plus”. The concept is devised to offer better value and more choice from the moment you step into the resort right up to your departure.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas & Cancun

Referred to as ‘Sin City’ and the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’, Las Vegas is the perfect destination for you to get lost in, whilst Cancun has the distinction of being the one Caribbean destination with the infrastructure, modern amenities and service philosophy to rival leisure destinations worldwide.

Apart from the obvious gambling element that is associated here, with casinos being found in the majority of Hotels, including The Bellagio, Golden Gate Hotel and the Venetian, there are a number of other activities for you to enjoy, including a stroll through Downtown Las Vegas where you can witness the incredible Freemont Street Experience – a must see show when staying in Vegas, watching the fountains at the Bellagio, which occur every 15 minutes, taking a gondola ride at the Venetian Hotel or a romantic helicopter ride to see Vegas from up in the clouds! The only downside to this part of the honeymoon package is trying to fit all of these activities into three days!

Cancun, Mexico

On day four, it’s off to the stunning surroundings of Cancun, Mexico, where you will spend eight blissful days soaking up the sunshine and doing what honeymooners do best – relaxing. Whether you wish to lie on the powdery white sanded beaches and sip a cocktail, do some discovering and exploration of your tropical surroundings, experience local heritage and culture, or simply party hard and spend the holiday by the strip, then Cancun will have something to offer you that is truly spectacular.

Masai Mara, Kenya

Kenya & Seychelles

This multi-centre honeymoon combines a classic East African Safari experience in Kenya with the idyllic Indian Ocean beaches of the Seychelles.

Your safari will take you northwards from Nairobi through the lush farming communities from Thika to Nyeri. The landscape drops away to the west into the Great Rift Valley, which creates a dramatic backdrop to your journey. The bird-watching and views around Mt. Kenya and the lakes are spectacular, while the main attraction in Masai Mara is an unforgettable game-watching experience. You will enjoy six nights in four different locations throughout the Masai Mara.

After enjoying your last night in Nairobi you will depart for the stunning island paradise which is the Seychelles (the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently honeymooned here). Located on one of the most pristine beaches on the island of Mahé, overlooking the marine national park of Port Launay, the Ephélia Resort enjoys a unique spot set within 120 hectares of land with lush and rare tropical vegetation. The new hotel offers a wide range of exclusive accommodation, located on both the North and South beaches as well as the Hillside villas overlooking the entire Port Launay Bay.
