Summer Coolers: Give Your Guests A Cocktail!

By  |

Whilst tea, coffee and a side of shortbread is the traditional refreshments to serve your guests on arrival at your reception, we say why not make the most of the summer months (if or when they arrive?!) by going the extra little mile and wowing them with a funky cocktail bar or signature wedding cocktail? Just have a look at these awesome set ups and cocktail ideas for some bright, cheerful and sparkling inspiration!

Serving a signature cocktail that reflects you as a couple, or maybe the brides favourite for the ladies, and the grooms favourite cocktail for the guys. We’re pretty fond of our cocktails here in the Mrs2Be office, here’s our favourite four!

Blueberry Mojito: Blueberries are considered a super food (they’re full of antioxidants), so you’ll be doing your guests a favour by serving this refreshing cocktail. We’re particularly keen on this recipe from Our StateImage by Chris Man Studios via Style Me Pretty.

Strawberry Lime Sangria: The addition of strawberries to any cocktail is a winner in our books, and what fruit sings summer like the humble strawberry! We can just imagine the sun shining and your guests enjoying this light and refreshing cocktail on the lawn. Head to Kitchen Treaty for the full receipe.

Blackberry Thyme Sparkler: If you fancy sticking close to the traditional wedding drink of choice, Champagne this fruity and spicy cocktail will add a new dimension to it. Visit Caribbean Bride for the recipe. Image and original recipe via The Effortless Chic.

If you fancy adding a do it yourself dimension to your cocktail reception this sangria bar is the way to go! Yes, cast your guests minds back to long, lazy days by the sea in Spain! To recreate this great set up visit The Wedding Chicks.

For the ultimate in elegance and class you certainly can’t beat the timeless style of the White Wedding Cosmo, head to The Knot for full recipe.

For the non-drinkers…

Think flavoured lemonades and virgin cocktails. We love both these ideas, a lemonade bar and lavender lemonade. Find the lavender lemonade recipe at Julie Blanner. Lemonade bar image by Alixann Loosle Photography via Lily and Iris.

Choosing your perfect drinks reception refreshment is one area of your wedding you can have lots of fun with! We suggest buying yourself a great cocktail recipe book and get testing!
